The South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia Motors will launch the Kia Syros EV in India in August 2026. An unofficial report claims that the carmaker will introduce the model with two battery packs from the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Notably, they haven’t confirmed or denied it, so we are expecting that it may make its debut with a 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
These two anticipated battery packs are also used in the Hyundai Creta Electric. Note that with the standard battery pack, the Carens Clavis EV and Creta Electric run up to 404 km and 420 km, respectively, under ARAI conditions, but with the larger one, it is 490 km for the Kia car and 510 km for the Hyundai vehicle. A similar claimed range for the upcoming Kia sport utility vehicle is expected; however, the battery pack details are still unconfirmed.
The upcoming electric vehicle from Kia for the Indian market is highly anticipated to be a sub-4-meter SUV. The model is anticipated to be lighter than these two existing models with the same battery pack, so there is high speculation that with these two battery packs, it gives better range than them. It may give a range of up to 443 km and 520 km with the standard and large battery, respectively.
Previous reports have already confirmed the upcoming Syros EV is built on the K1 platform with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle. The drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and the gearbox is a one-speed automatic gearbox. The carmaker will reveal the power output, peak torque, 0 to 100 kmph acceleration timing, and top speed with the launch of the vehicle.
Details regarding the electrical architecture are configured; it is built on 800 volts, supporting DC charging up to 100 kW that takes up to 39 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging. A 7.4 kW AC charger for home charging is anticipated to come with the vehicle, which may take 7 to 9 hours for 0 to 100 percent charging, depending on the battery pack. The 11.2 kWh AC charger may be available optionally.
The launch of Syros EV will add the fourth model to the electric vehicle lineup in India, as they are already selling three models: Kia Carens Clavis EV, Kia EV6, and Kia EV9. Among the three existing models, only Carens Clavis EV is the model that is locally assembled; besides, the two others are those whose launch happened in India by exporting as a combined built unit from abroad.
In terms of design, it is highly anticipated to be similar to its ICE counterpart. A few changes are expected, such as a closed-off grille; revised headlights, including headlamps and daylight running lights; updated front and rear bumpers for aerodynamics; and totally new alloy wheels. The interior is also expected to be quite similar to one already available for sale in India with a traditional powertrain.
Inside, it may get two 12.3-inch displays, one before the driving seat as a digital instrument cluster and the other at the center of the dashboard as infotainment. Some reports claim that between these two screens there will be a dedicated 5-inch HVAC control display. The infotainment system is set to support connected car technology with OTA software updates and wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and also features AI-based voice command.
The price of the Kia Syros EV is still pending. It is expected to be positioned as a rival to the Tata Nexon EV, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and the MG Windsor EV. So we are anticipating that its starting ex-showroom price will be around ₹11.99 lakh, and the top-end variant may cost above 17.39 lakh.
