Tata Safari EV Spotted Again: 7 Seats, ₹25L, Diwali Launch

The Tata Safari EV, a mid-size electric monocoque SUV from Tata Motors, was recently spotted testing in Maharashtra, but as with the previous spotting, this time too, it was highly camouflaged. As the launch is coming near, we may get to see multiple test miles in the next few weeks. The spotting hasn’t revealed anything; however, it confirmed that its exterior is similar to its ICE counterpart.

Previous spotting and even this reflect that the front-end design of the Tata Safari EV is going to be a little different from the one already available for sale with a traditional powertrain. Upfront, it is most anticipated to get a closed-off grille giving modern electric vehicle styling, and the bumper and lighting may also be tweaked. The side and rear are expected to be the same as the ICE (internal combustion engine) counterpart.

In profile, it may retain mechanical door handles, black-out outside rearview mirrors and window surrounds, roof rails, black wheel arch cladding, and modern and large aero-optimized alloy wheels; the rear may borrow full-width LED taillights, roof-integrated spoilers with parking light, a roof-mounted shark fin antenna, a silver skid plate, and side indicators just above the bumper.

Dimensionally, the Tata Safari EV is going to be the same as its ICE sister, which measures 4,668 mm in length, 1,922 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height. Set to be introduced with a seating capacity of 7 people in a layout of 2-3-2 with bench-like seats in the second row and 6 people in a configuration of 2-2-2 featuring captain seats in the second row.

The boot space for both the six-seater and seven-seater is set to be 420 liters, the same as the petrol-powered Tata Safari. The interior features are highly anticipated to be borrowed from its sibling, the Tata Harrier EV. Behind the steering wheel, it may get a customizable 12.25-inch digital instrument cluster that shows driving data clearly.

The center of the dashboard is expected to be equipped with a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment screen, which is likely to support wireless connectivity via Bluetooth as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. To make the cabin a mini-theater, it comes with a 10-speaker JBL premium sound system, which also features Dolby Atmos.

Other expected features are a double wireless phone charging pad and two cup holders on the center console for convenience; both seats are expected to be ventilated and electronically adjusted, and the driver’s seat also features memory. It may also get a large panoramic sunroof that expands to the third row; it is anticipated to come with heat and UV-ray protection.

The manufacturer, Tata Motors, hasn’t confirmed anything about its powertrain and performance. Reportedly, it will come with a single permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, meaning its launch will take place as a rear-wheel-drive car using a single-speed automatic transmission. Still, there’s no word on the LFP battery packs, but it is expected to get two, which may be 65 kWh and 75 kWh, according to many reports.

Details regarding its launch are still pending, but some reports suggest that Tata Motors will introduce it to the Indian market most probably by the festive season, i.e., Diwali 2026, so we can expect that the Indian carmaker may introduce it in late October 2026.

Its pricing is still uncertain; there’s high speculation that the Tata Harrier EV will be available for sale with an ex-showroom price from ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with other electrified seven-seaters, the VinFast VF MPV 7 and the Mahindra XEV 9S.
