Kia India, an Indian subsidiary of South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia, has officially started the booking for the Carens Clavis CNG and Carens CNG. The booking is taking place on the brand’s official website; buyers who are interested may exercise the option. The booking can be alternatively done by visiting the nearest Kia dealership. Booking details.
The booking for the Carens and Clavis CNG began on September 10, 2026, which will last until the market launch. Customers who are interested in buying either model may book online or visit the nearest Kia dealership. Kia India hasn’t revealed any amount for the booking. Those who will have exercised the option of booking are most likely to get delivery preference and other benefits.
What do we know about these upcoming CNG cars?
The Kia Carens CNG will be available in one variant, Premium (O) G1.5 6MT, and two variants of the Kia Carens Clavis CNG: HTE G1.5 6MT and HTE (O) G1.5 6MT. Both these cars are multiple-purpose vehicles with a seating capacity of 7 people in a 2-3-2 layout. The dimensions for each are:
Kia Carens CNG:

- Length: 4,550 mm

- Height: 1,790 mm
The wheelbase and ground clearance for both are 2780 mm and 190 mm, respectively. Both will make a debut with a factory-fitted CNG tank, whose capacity is set to be 60 litres; there will also be a fuel tank of 45 litres for petrol. Because of the same wheelbase, both models have 116-litre cargo capacity behind the third-row seats, which is expandable by folding the second-row seats. These models sit on 16-inch alloy wheels.
Both these cars have a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine which delivers the 96 PS and 123 NM torque. With only a six-speed manual transmission, there’s no option for an automatic gearbox. The fuel efficiency details for these models are still pending. Reports suggest that on the ARAI-certified condition, it will give mileage up to 25 kmph.
These two models underpin the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform with a front-wheel-drive drivetrain, whose front and rear suspensions are MacPherson struts with coil springs and a coupled torsion beam axle with coil springs, respectively. All wheels get disc brakes, and for braking safety, it is also equipped with the ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, and Electronic Stability Control.
Their cabin is set to have a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID display showing all the driving data, rear AC vents to enhance rear passenger seating comfort, multiple USB Type-C charging ports for phone charging convenience, a front 12V power outlet to run external electric devices, rear parking sensors to help with parking in compact areas, and a multifunction steering wheel with control and settings.
Pricing update and rivals.
Kia India hasn’t announced the ex-showroom price for either model. The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean carmaker will announce them at the launch event. The prices for these cars are set to be different from one another depending on the trim. The expected ex-showroom price will be between 12.5 lakh rupees and 13 lakh rupees.
As a seven-seater car with the CNG powertrain, it may give the tough competition to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga CNG, Toyota Rumion CNG, and other three-row vehicles that come with good fuel efficiency and are positioned in the market as family cars including Citroën Aircross, Nissan Gravite, and Renault Triber.
