The Suzuki SV650, a long-running middleweight naked motorcycle, is already on sale in the US, Canada and Columbia; reports suggest soon it will go on sale in the Indian market too, but the official confirmation is still awaited. California Air Resources Board certification confirms that it will get an update in 2027 for US market, it may also go on sale in other markets. Let’s have a closure look on it.
What will be new in the 2027 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle?
The CARB filing shows the new motorcycle with the codename of SV650RQM7, where the SV650 is the nameplate of the vehicle, RQ is used for the Suzuki street bikes, and M7 reflects the model year 2027. The filling hints that the updated version will use the same updated 645cc V-twin engine and emissions-control hardware as the Suzuki SV-7GX.
The updated Suzuki SV650 will follow the Euro5+ emission standard, making it way clear to the European market. The 2027-year model will deliver the 73 hp power and 64 Nm torque with the 645cc V-twin internal combustion engine that is set to be mated with six-speed manual transmission. A few other upgrades are also expected for this model.
The traction control that prevents the rear tyre from spinning, ride-by-wire control of how the engine responds to throttle, riding modes that help with the smooth riding experience depending on the experience, and a quickshifter that enables gear changes without use of the clutch are also certain for their upcoming 2027-year model.
A report also suggests that there will be a 4.2-inch TFT display that supports wireless connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and call and SMS alerts. We will get to know the actual changes, upgrades, and improvements for this motorcycle with the unveiling to that take place at EICMA 2026.
The rest of the 2027 Suzuki SV650 may remain the same!
The dimensions will be 2,140 mm, 760 mm, and 1,090 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with the wheelbase of 1,445 mm and ground clearance of 135 mm. The seat height, kerb weight, and fuel tank capacity are set to be 785 mm, 198 kg, and 14.5 litres, respectively. It will be built on a steel trellis-style frame with the steel beam-type swingarm.
The front and rear suspensions are 41 mm conventional telescopic forks with 125 mm travel and a Link-type single shock with 7-step preload adjustable, respectively. Two 290 mm solid discs with 4-piston Tokico for the front wheel, and the rear wheel has a single disc with a 1-piston calliper with the double-channel anti-locking braking system to ensure powerful and safe braking.
The front and rear wheels are 17-inch in diameter with 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 tyres. The design will remain the same. It set to get round LED headlights integrating main headlamps and daylight running lights, cowl-mounted side indicators, a black sharp front fender, handlebar-mounted rear view mirrors, a slim fuel tank, and an up-swept double tonne exhaust to ensure decent ground clearance.
Other feature highlights are the stepped seat to enhance riding and city comfort for rider and pillion, respectively, silvered foldable footpegs for leg support for both occupants, Suzuki lettering on the fuel tank for branding, and a compact and sporty tail with the modern taillamps beneath the pillion seat end and fender-mounted side indicators.
What to expect about the 2027 Suzuki SV650 India launch?
Suzuki hasn’t confirmed anything about the launch of the Suzuki SV650 in Indian market. Various reports say after its global debut at the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (International Exhibition of Bicycles, Motorcycles and Accessories), the model won’t also make a debut in the European market but also in the Asian market, including India.
As the EICMA 2026 is scheduled for November 5 to 8, 2026, and the nameplate is expected to on sale in European countries by late 2026 or early 2027, so we are expecting for the Indian market this motorcycle may come to compete with the Honda CB650R, Triumph Trident 660, and Kawasaki Z650 in the H1 of 2027.
