Toyota India, the Indian subsidiary of Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota, may launch the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux, mid-size pickup truck, on July 28, 2026, for the domestic market. The launch in India is happening after eight months of its global debut. It is highly expected to come to India with the same design with which they are selling it in the international market.
The manufacturer hasn’t revealed the price for the ninth-gen Toyota Hilux, but it is expected to be a little costlier than the eighth-generation that is already on sale in the Indian market from March 2022. The existing one costs ex-showroom between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹36.00 lakh; the upcoming one may be available for sale in India with an ex-showroom price between ₹29.99 lakh and ₹37.49 lakh.
Upfront, it gets a body-colored honeycomb-style grille for better intakes to ensure efficient fuel burning; slim LED headlights on the corner just below the hood that integrate both daylight running lights and main headlamps for better visibility on the road and a modern look; a black trim between the headlights with Toyota lettering for the branding; and a rugged bumper with a skid plate to give a tougher front-end look.
On the sides, it has squared-off wheel arch cladding to add SUV characteristics; mechanical door handles for better practicality in all weather conditions; a front door integrated outside rear view mirror with integrated blinkers for clarity of the traffic behind and to hint to the other road users of your next move; HILUX lettering on the front door; and a side step for easier and conventional ingress and egress.
At the rear, it gets a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, reflecting the vehicle is equipped with connected car technology and other smart features; a C-shaped taillight gives it its contemporary appearance; a rugged bumper with steps for easier access to the cargo bed; tailgate-mounted stop lamps when it lights up in case of braking; a large cargo area to help in carrying multiple big pieces of luggage; and a downward-opening tailgate makes it convenient to load and unload cargo.

The ground clearance is yet to be revealed officially; it is expected to be 310 mm. The interior of the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux is also expected to be similar to the international variant. Inside, it features a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts. It comes with a three-spoke steering wheel with multiple physical buttons; under it’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The center of the dashboard has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, built-in navigation, Toyota Connected Services, Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, and voice recognition. Also features USB Type-C ports, a wireless smartphone charger, and a premium audio system.
Powertrain details are still pending. It likely gets a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood, whose displacement of 2,755 cc. It generates 204 hp. The peak torque is 420 Nm and 500 Nm with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmissions, respectively.
It may come with a four-wheel drive drivetrain. It takes under 10 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h; top speed is anticipated to be above 175 km/h. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 12 kmpl; real-world fuel efficiency is 10 kmpl. With a fuel tank capacity of 80 liters, it is expected to give a range of 800 kilometers.
