Yamaha R25 Updated: New Icon Blue and Mint Green Colours Launched in Malaysia at RM23,098
The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha Motor Company launched the updated R25 in Malaysia with the starting price of RM23,098, which translates to ₹5.54 lakh, in two new colour options that are Icon Blue and Mint Green. Let’s know about them.
The first option of Icon Blue is inspired by the Yamaha racing heritage that is also seen in the R-series bikes of the brand. It combines deep blue and black panels and white graphics and gives a sharp, aggressive, and premium supersport feel.
And on the other hand, the Mint Green is a completely new shade. It is paired with the black components at the tank, wheels, and frame for contrast. Its front section and fairing get red accents to add a sporty touch.
Engine & Specification
The updated R25 comes with the same engine that is offered with previous colour options, featuring a 249cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC twin-cylinder engine whose power output is 34.9 bhp at 12,000 rpm and peak torque is 22.6 Nm at 10,000 rpm. With these performance figures, it directly competes with the KTM Duke 250 in the international market.
Thanks to the double-cylinder setup, the bike gives smooth riding and vibrates very little compared to motorcycles that get single-cylinder engines, and the liquid cooling makes the long journey convenient with stable performance.
Its engine bore and stroke are 60 × 41, and the compression ratio is 11.6:1. The stroke of 41 mm is short, helping in quick-revving engines, and the compensation ratio of 11:6:1 is high, which helps in better performance and better efficiency.
Equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, it features the fuel injection system, which helps the bike sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds, and its top speed goes up to 180 km/h. The fuel efficiency is 20-25 km/l, depending on driving conditions.
The bike comes with a fuel tank of 14 litres, which gives a range of 280 km and 350 km for city driving and highway cruising, respectively. In the case of mixed driving, including city and highway, it runs around 320 km.
Chassis & Hardware

The updated R25 is built on a diamond frame, which makes it strong as well as lightweight. The front and rear suspension are telescopic forks and monoshock, respectively. They provide good comfort balance and keep the motorcycle stable at high speeds.
Both the front and rear wheels get disc brakes, but the diameter for the front one is 298 mm and for the rear is 220 mm; they provide strong braking power and better heat dissipation. It features double-channel ABS, meaning both wheels get ABS, which prevents the wheel locking during sudden braking.
To ensure better ergonomics, it comes with a seat height of 780 mm that gives a comfortable riding position for the individual with a height between 5’4″ (163 cm) and 5’6″ (168 cm); a kerb weight of 166 kg helps with better handling as it’s too heavy; and a ground clearance of 160 mm is ideal to pass the potholes and speed breakers.
Design & Features
Up front, the updated R25 gets dual LED headlights, giving it a modern look and also improving night visibility, and an air intake at the centre for cooling. On the sides, it gets full fairing bodywork, a muscular fuel tank, and clip-on handlebars, and the rear features a sharp tail section, an LED tail lamp, and split seats.
Both front and rear wheels are alloy in size, 17-inch, featuring strong road grip and better handling in the corners. It gets a fully digital LCD display, which shows the speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel level, mileage, engine temperature, and clock.
