BMW M440i xDrive Convertible Launched in India at ₹1.09 Crore, 0-100 in 4.9s

The German automobile maker BMW has officially launched the M440i xDrive Convertible in India on May 2, 2026, by importing it as a combined built unit. Now, it is available for sale with the price of ₹1.09 crore rupees; the booking may be done through the official website of BMW, and delivery is expected around mid-to-late June 2026.

Comes With xDrive AWD

The M440i xDrive Convertible comes with a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol that is bolted with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox, which includes paddle shifters and also launch control. Its drivetrain is xDrive all-wheel drive but with a rear-biased system for a sportier feel. The maximum power output and peak torque are 374 hp and 500 Nm.

The brand has claimed that its acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 4.9 seconds, and maximum speed goes up to 250 km/h. Its fabric soft-top takes 18 seconds to open or close with a driving speed of 50 kmph. Its ARAI-certified mileage is 12 kmpl, and with the fuel tank of 65 litres, the car gives a range of 708 km. The real-world mileage is 9-11 km/l, and the range is 531-649 km.

In terms of dimensions, the length is 4,770 mm, 1,852 mm with mirror and 2,081 mm without mirror. Its height is 1,394 mm and wheelbase is 2,851 mm, making the rear seating comfortable with ample headroom and legroom. The ground clearance is only 126 mm, not good for Indian road conditions; drivers may have to face inconvenience to pass the potholes and speed breakers.

It comes with the seating capacity of four people in a layout of 2-2. The front seats are spacious, but the rear compact adults may not feel comfortable during a long journey, but for kids it is ideal. Also features a boot space of 385 litres that helps in carrying luggage; compared to its main competitor in the Indian market, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet has 90 litres more cargo space.

The cabin is equipped with a 14.9-inch infotainment screen at the centre of the dashboard for infotainment, which runs on the BMW operating system with the smooth user interface and high-definition graphics. A 12.3-inch drive display is placed under the steering wheel that shows navigation, speed, etc. There’s also a head-up display (HUD) that projects all the crucial driving info on the windscreen. 

It features an iDrive click-wheel controller and physical buttons for volume. For the premium comfort, it gets M Sport seats made up of Vernasca leather. It is electronically adjustable and comes with a memory function. Gets a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting that enhances the mood during nighttime driving, three-zone climate control, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. 

For the safety of the car and the occupants, it comes with a Level 2 advanced driving assistant system featuring a 360-degree camera, auto park assist, adaptive cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution which prevents the wheel locking and distributes braking power among the wheels for better stability, and dynamic stability control.

Exterior & Design 

Up front, it gets a bold and vertical ‘beaver teeth’ kidney grille with active air vents for engine cooling, slim snake eyes, adaptive LED headlights and LED DRLs. On the sides, it has traditional door handles for styling and practicality and large light-alloy wheels for a staggered setup. The rear comes with tail-lights in laser style, dual trapezoidal exhaust and M badging at the rear.
