A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Tata Curvv is spotted testing on the road, which seems to be a CNG variant of the model. However, Tata Motors is yet to officially confirm the same. Some reports are also saying the most recent spotted test mule may be a flex-fuel version that may be capable of running any fuel between E20 and E85.
Many media sources have reported on the latest spotting of the Tata Curvv that is wrapped with black-and-white zebra vinyl, and most of them refer to it as the CNG variant, and we also expect it to be the same. Reportedly, Tata Motors will introduce the CNG version with two 30-liter cylinders underneath the boot floor, offering virtually no boot space compromise.
The powertrain of the CNG variant is anticipated to be the same as the Nexon iCNG, which gets a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol-powered ICE that is paired with the six-speed manual transmission. It generates a maximum power of 99 hp and peak torque of 170 Nm, which makes the 0 to 60 km/h acceleration possible under 7 seconds and top speed up to 170 km/h.
For clarity, the Tata Motors is available for sale with the ex-showroom price of ₹9.69 lakh and ₹19.09 lakh with different ICE options; they are 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre Hyperion GDI turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre Kryojet turbo-diesel. All are available with two transmission options that are six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The first one is a 1,199 cc 3-cylinder internal combustion engine, which generates the power of 118 hp and peak torque of 170 Nm; the second is also a 1,199 cc 3-cylinder, which delivers the peak power of 123 hp and torque of 225 Nm; and the third is a 1,497 cc 4-cylinder, which outputs 116 hp maximum power and 260 Nm peak torque.
As of now, there is no word on the launch date and price of the CNG variant of the Tata Curvv from Tata Motors. Many reports suggest the carmaker will introduce the model in the third quarter of 2026. The ex-showroom price is expected to start from ₹11 lakh and go up to ₹13 lakh. Following the launch, it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG.
The dimensions are set to be the same as the pure internal combustion engine options, which measure 4,308 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,560 mm, ground clearance is 208 mm, and turning radius is 5.3 meters. Available with 5 people seating capacity in a 2-3 layout with a boot space of 500 liters, which helps in carrying 5 big pieces of luggage.
All set to feature a 12.3-inch HARMAN touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard integrated with the JBL 9-speaker audio system with subwoofer to ensure a good quality audio experience inside the cabin, which supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and iRA connected car technology. Under the steering wheel, there will be a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster showing all driving data.
It is certain that the front row will have a six-way powered driver’s seat and ventilated front seats to ensure better comfort for the driver and co-passenger. Other notable features are multi-color ambient lighting, automatic climate control, an air purifier with a PM2.5 filter for fresh air inside the cabin, rear AC vents to enhance occupants’ comfort, Bluetooth connectivity, USB Type-C charging ports, and a wireless smartphone charger.
