JWS MG India Motors will launch the MG Hector Tomahawk EV in the Indian market on August 26, 2026. Ten days before that, it has been spotted undisguised during the television commercial shoot at Magarpatta, Pune. The spy shots of the same are floating on the web, which reveals its exterior. Let’s have a closer look at what we get to know through it.
- Upfront, it has two horizontal daylight running lights with the headlamp between, which seem connected with black trim that has two silver strips and an MG logo for branding; a body-colored enclosed grille; lower air intakes in a horizontal shape; a double-toned bumper; vertical air curtains; and a subtly ridged bonnet.
- On the sides, it has black cladding for squared wheel arches and lower body; door handles are chromed pull-type; there is a chromed window surround with an upward kink toward the rear; front-door-mounted ORVMs with blinkers; a black roof tail; double-toned alloy wheels; and blacked-out pillars.
Any of the spied images during the TVC shoot doesn’t show how its back is. Notably, the design is quite similar to the Wuling Eksion, which is already on sale in the Indonesian market, so we are anticipating a similar reception for this upcoming all-electric car.
What else do we know about this upcoming MG’s EV?
The carmaker has already confirmed the MG Hector Tomahawk EV is based on the Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology platform. Its dimensions are anticipated to be the same as the Indonesian-spec model, which is 4,745 mm longer, 1,850 mm wider, and 1,755 mm taller, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.
As the launch date for the seven-seater EV is coming closer, JSW MG Motors India has already started testing the car. The recently released teaser has already confirmed a beige color option for the cabin, and a recent spotted image has already revealed that one of the exterior colors is set to be an olive green shade with a black roof.
The most recent teaser has already confirmed it is coming with a seating capacity of seven people in a 2-3-2 layout. The same even reveals that it has a two-spoke steering wheel, which seems to be in a D-shape under which a slim digital instrument cluster is clearly visible, but the size is still uncertain.
The dashboard center shows a large touchscreen infotainment system; we are expecting it to support wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and connected car technology with over-the-air software updates and an AI-based voice assistant for natural voice commands.
The clear image of the cabin hasn’t yet surfaced. Reports suggest that the cabin’s center console will have a hidden storage compartment, two cup holders, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Other features that are most likely are the 360-degree camera system, an electronic parking brake, six airbags, and an L2 ADAS suite.
What about the battery pack and motor setup?
Its powertrain is still uncertain; many reports suggest that the upcoming MG’s seven-seater electric vehicle will be the same as the Wuling Eksion. For reference, the Indonesian-spec model gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor that is mounted on the front axle with a one-speed automatic gearbox and features a front-wheel-drive drivetrain. The power output and peak torque are 201 hp and 310 Nm.
The 0 to 100 km/h sprinting time is 7.8 seconds, and top speed is 160 km/h. Equipped with a 69.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and gives 530 km of range on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. It supports CCS2 DC chargers, which take 28 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging.
The launch of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV is confirmed for August 26, 2026, but the price is still pending. As it is going to compete in the Indian market with the existing Mahindra XEV 9S and the upcoming Tata Safari EV, we are anticipating it to cost starting ex-showroom from ₹18 lakh for the base variant and go up to ₹30 lakh for the top trim.
