First Tata Avinya Electric SUV Spy Shots Reveal Concept-Inspired Design

Tata Motors has already confirmed that they will introduce a premium electric sport utility vehicle in the Indian market under the banner of Aniya, a sub-brand for premium EVs. For the first time, the electric SUV has been spotted testing on the road. Images of its test mules are floating on the web, in which it is highly camouflaged.

The upcoming Avinya electric SUV is concealed under camouflage but gives an idea of proportion and overall appearance. At first sight, it seems similar to the Avinya Concept showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2026. Let’s have a closer look at its exterior design.

Exterior Similar to Concept 

Upfront, it has a full-width LED daylight running light below the hood; the spy image clearly shows it overlying. Features bumper-integrated LED high-beam and low-beam for better visibility at night. Other things that are clearly visible on the spy shots are vertical air intakes on the bumper for cooling of the battery pack and motor, and a closed-off front fascia to enhance aerodynamics. 

Seeing the images clicked from the side reveals that it has a front-door-integrated outside rear-view mirror, which is anticipated to be electronically adjustable and foldable, and it will also integrate the side reflector. The handles for the door are kept flush-type to add premiumness to the in-profile view; it also reduces the aerodynamic drag, which significantly enhances efficiency.

It was found running multiple-spoke double-toned alloy wheels, which seem to be 19-inch in size. It’s tough to say whether they will just use it in the test or introduce it with the production model. The sloping roof gives it a dynamic look, enhancing its side view. Its rear has a roof-integrated spoiler above the windshield to enhance high-speed stability.

The taillamps’ design is hidden beneath the camouflage but is expected to come with a full-width LED taillight, the same as the one shown in the concept. An image showing the back view of test mules reveals the tailgate design is quite minimalistic, and its bumper has a horizontal-shaped reflector, which makes it visible to other road users at nighttime even if the rear lights are turned off.

What others do we know?

Its interior is still undisclosed. Tata Motors has already patented the dashboard design, which reveals that it will get a two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons and the Avinya letter, under which there’s a slim digital instrument cluster. The patent also reveals that the center of the dashboard will feature a touchscreen infotainment system.

The centrally mounted screen is all set to support connected car technology with over-the-air software updates, wireless multi-device connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an AI-based voice assistant. It is likely to be integrated with a multi-speaker premium sound system to ensure an immersive audio experience.

Reports suggest that the center may feature two wireless phone charging pads to enhance phone charging convenience and practicality for both co-passenger and driver. Other features that it is most likely to get are double-zone automatic climate control, ventilated and powered front seats with memory function, and multicolor ambient lighting.

Platform and powertrain

Set to use the Chery-JLR Freelander platform with 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture supporting ultra-fast charging, likely to add 500 km ARAI-certified range in just 30 minutes. May come with an all-wheel-drive drivetrain, getting a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle with a single-speed automatic transmission and an induction motor on the front axle.

Under the floor, it is expected to feature a lithium-ion NMC battery pack around 80 kWh, which may give a range above 650 kilometers when it is fully charged, on the MIDC or ARAI condition. As of now, nothing is confirmed about the power output and torque. Some reports suggest the acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is under 5 seconds and top speed may be around 250 km/h.
