Citroen India, the Indian subsidiary of the French automobile brand Citroën, has launched the Comfort Edition for Basalt X with an ex-showroom price of ₹8.75 lakh. The carmaker has introduced the model with beige leatherette seat upholstery for all the seats to enhance seating comfort for all occupants and a 10.25-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard, which is integrated with the JBL premium audio system to ensure an immersive audio experience.
Other notable features they have introduced with this edition are a wireless phone charging pad on the center console that helps in charging the phone conveniently without plugging it in; dual dashcams with predictive safety alerts, which record footage at the time of driving; and a rear-view camera that helps in seeing the blind spot and makes parking convenient. With the addition of these features, the model is set to give tougher competition to the Tata Curvv, Hyundai Creta, and other SUVs in the segment.
Available with two 1.2-liter three-cylinder internal combustion engines, the first one is naturally aspirated and the second is turbocharged. The former is available with a five-speed manual transmission, which generates the power of 82 hp and peak torque of 115 Nm; the latter is available with both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic. The power output is 110 hp, and peak torque is 190 Nm with MT and 205 Nm with AT.
They are both available with a front-wheel-drive drivetrain; their 0 to 100 km/h acceleration timing is 11-12 seconds for the turbo-petrol ICE, and the top speed of the same is 180 km/h. The NA-petrol ICE takes 17 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h and can reach a maximum speed of 165 km/h. Notably, both internal combustion engines’ displacements are 1,199 cc. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 18.0 km/l, 19.5 km/l, and 18.7 km/l for NA manual, turbo manual, and turbo automatic, respectively.
Available with a 45-liter fuel tank. With an average mileage of 17 kmpl, it gives a range of 764 kilometers. The length, width, and height are 4,352 mm, 1,765 mm, and 1,593 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,651 mm; ground clearance is 180 mm. Available with a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts, it has a boot space of 470 liters. Notably, the rear seats are foldable; by doing so, you can expand the cargo capacity to enhance practicality for carrying big luggage conventionally.
Built on Stellantis’s Common Modular Platform, its front and rear suspension are independent MacPherson struts with coil springs and twist-beam axles with coil springs, respectively. Features ventilated disc brakes for the front wheel and drum for the rear. It has a manual handbrake to keep the vehicle standing still in a parking space. Also comes with the anti-locking braking system, electronic braking distribution, and electronic stability program.
Outside, it features LED daylight running lights, LED headlamps, and LED taillamps. Features an electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirror on the A-pillar, which also integrates blinkers. Other notable features on the exterior are black wheel arches, lower body cladding, flush-type door handles to improve aerodynamics, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails to mount luggage, and a rear spoiler.
Inside, it has six airbags to ensure the safety of all occupants in case of an accident. Other features that are available inside the cabin are a height-adjustable driver’s seat to find a comfortable seating position, rear AC vents to keep the rear seating passengers cool in summer and warm in winter, automatic climate control to help maintain the temperature in the cabin, and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel.
