Volkswagen Tayron Life Debuts at ₹41.99 Lakh, ₹5 Lakh Cheaper Than R-Line

Volkswagen, the German automobile manufacturer, has launched the Life variant of the Volkswagen Tayron with the ex-showroom price of ₹41.99 lakh, ₹5 lakh more affordable than the R-Line trim that costs ₹46.99 lakh. Comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with a boot space of 885 liters, which is expandable up to 2,090 liters. 

Inside, it has a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit instrument cluster under the steering wheel and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard, which supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The centrally mounted screen has Bluetooth connectivity, built-in navigation, voice control, and over-the-air software updates. Other notable features are the following:

  • The panoramic sunroof makes the cabin airy and spacious,
  • Three-zone automatic climate control to ensure it’s better for all,
  • Powered front seats to provide comfortable seating positions for the co-passenger and driver,
  • Ventilated front seats to ensure enhanced comfort during hot weather,
  • USB-C charging port across the cabin to charge the phone conveniently,
  • Massage function for the front seat to reduce fatigue for long-distance travel,
  • Eight-speaker premium audio sound to ensure an immersive sound experience inside the cabin,
  • Ambient lighting to enhance the mood of occupants, 
  • Two wireless phone charging pads to charge the phone without plugging in,
  • 360-degree surround-view camera to get surround view, and 
  • 9 airbags to ensure comfort for each occupant in case of collision, and
  • Level 2 advanced driving assistant system to ensure steering.

It is 4,792 mm longer, 1,866 mm wider, and 1,666 mm longer. The wheelbase is 2,789 mm, and ground clearance is 186 mm. Features a fuel tank capacity of 60 liters. Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels with a 235/55 R18 size. For clarity, the Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson, and Škoda Kodiaq are longer by 23 mm, 162 mm, and 34 mm, respectively.

Outside, it has a clean front fascia with L-shaped grille slats, a front bumper with silver trim, slim LED headlights, a full-width LED daylight running light with an illuminated Volkswagen logo at the center, body-colored wheel-arch cladding, multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, A-pillar-mounted powered outside rear-view mirrors with integrated blinkers, and roof rails.

Other notable features on the exterior are black-outed A, B, and C pillars to give a dynamic side view; mechanical door handles to ensure better practicality; a roof-mounted rear spoiler; a full-width LED taillight; unique LED taillamps on the edge; a Volkswagen logo at the tailgate; TAYRON lettering just below the logo; bumper-integrated reflectors; and a shark-fin antenna. 

Under the hood, it has an EA888 2.0-liter, four-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine that is mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, whose displacement is 1,984 cc. The ICE’s power output is 204 hp, and peak torque is 320 Nm. The drivetrain is 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration timing is 7.5 seconds, and top speed is 229 km/h. The fuel efficiency for city driving and highway cruising is 8.3 km/l and 12.3 km/l, respectively.
