Triumph Bonneville 400 India Launch in Sept 2026 - 349cc Retro Roadster Under ₹2 Lakh

The British two-wheeler manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles has revealed more details for the upcoming 349cc retro roadster Bonneville 400 to BikeWale. In the Indian market, the brand has already launched six models in this segment with the partnership of Bajaj Auto, which are Speed T4, Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Thruxton 400, Scrambler 400 XC and Tracker 400.

The launch of the Bonneville 400 will add the seventh model in the segment for the Indian market. Reportedly, the bike maker is planning to introduce it to the Indian market in September 2026 with the ex-showroom price under ₹2 lakh. Following its launch in India, it will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350, the Honda Hness CB350 and the Jawa 350.

Notably, the Bonneville 400 is yet to be revealed, meaning it is still uncertain what the bike will look like. The details that were revealed by the motorcycle manufacturer are that the 349cc upcoming bike from Triumph Motorcycles will get many accessories from the other models under the Bonneville line-up.

Reportedly, it will get a touring flyscreen reducing wind blast on the rider, a bench-style touring seat to give it an old-retro appearance and sitting flexibility, and improve comfort for long drives. Set to feature mirrors on the end of handlebars for better rear visibility, it also reflects its modern retro profile.

For the comfort of the pillion, there will be a backrest at the seat corner; it also prevents the pillion from sliding back in case of quick acceleration. It will come with a leather storage bag on the right side, which helps in carrying luggage for touring, and it also adds vintage styling. It may also feature metal crash bars around the engine area to ensure the engine stays protected even if the bike falls.

As of now, the upcoming Bonneville 400 has already been spotted testing on public roads many times abroad, which reveals many details about the motorcycle. It will get a teardrop-shaped fuel tank which not only will give it a vintage British motorcycle look but also will give a better knee grip while riding; a circular LED headlamp will give better visibility and add a modern touch; and it will have multiple-spoke wheels with tube tyres for flexibility on rough roads.

Spy shots even reveal that it will get fork gaiters, a rubber cover on the front suspension, to protect suspension tubes from dust, mud, and stones. As the rear suspension, it is set to get dual shock absorbers instead of a modern monoshock; it helps with a softer suspension feel and comfortable ride quality. Other features are still pending; they will be revealed soon with its unveiling.

Triumph Motorcycles is yet to reveal its powertrain and performance; many reports suggest that it will get the same engine that was offered with its sibling, the Speed 400. If so, it will get a 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which is mounted with a 6-speed gearbox in the pattern of 1 down and 5 ups, whose power output is 36.5 bhp and 32 Nm.

Its Main Competitor

The main rival of the Bonneville 400 in the Indian market is the Royal Enfield Classic 350, which is available for sale in multiple variants with the ex-showroom price of ₹1.83 lakh to ₹2.18 lakh. It is powered by a 349cc single-cylinder air-oil-cooled fuel-injected engine, which is mated with the 5-speed gearbox, whose maximum power output is 20.2 bhp and peak torque is 27 Nm.

Its top speed is 115 km/h, and 0 to 60 km/h acceleration timing is only 5.5 seconds. The fuel efficiency for city driving is 32-36 kmpl, and for highway cruising it is 38-42 kmpl. Get a fuel tank of 13 litres; with an average mileage of 35 km/l, its range is 455 km. Its kerb weight is 195 kg, ground clearance is 170 mm, seat height is 805 mm, and wheelbase is 1,390 mm.
