Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV Revealed: 1,169 hp & €150,000 Starting Price
On May 20, 2026, Mercedes-Benz’s Mercedes-AMG revealed the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV in two variants that are GT 55 and GT 63. Reportedly, the production will begin at Mercedes’ Sindelfingen plant in Germany between June 2026 and August 2026, and the standard variant ‘GT 55’ is expected to be introduced in Germany in late 2026, and the flagship top-end variant ‘GT 63’ will be introduced by early 2027.
Following its launch in Germany, the German automobile maker will expand its market to other European countries, and then it may come to North America, including the US. As of now, there’s no word for its Indian launch, but a few reports say that it may come as a CBU (completely built unit). Globally, it will compete with the Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
It is 5,094 mm longer and 1,411 mm taller. Its drag coefficient is 0.22 Cd, and the kerb weight is 2,460 kg. There’s a frunk (front trunk storage) of 62 litres, ideal for carrying small bags and other small items. Upfront, it gets a concave grille design with illuminated vertical slats and Mercedes’ star logo, star-shaped DRLs and slim headlights, large air channels for cooling of the battery, and an aggressive bumper.

On the sides, it features a coupe-like roofline giving a floating view; blacked-out aero-optimised ORVMs; flush-type door handles and smooth surfaces to reduce drag; and swanky large alloy wheels for bold road presence. At the rear, it features six circular turbine-style LED tail lamps and full-width LED taillights, creating a wide stance and modern look, activating the spoiler and diffuser, aggressive bumper and Mercedes’s star logo which inlines with the tail lamps at the centre.
Built on the AMG.EA platform, whose electrical architecture is 800 volts. It comes with the three axial flux electric motors, which are developed by YASA. Interestingly, it is smaller, thinner, more power-dense and lighter compared to conventional EVs. Notably, one motor is mounted with the front axle and two with the rear axle, one on the left and right side, meaning it is offered with an all-wheel drive configuration.
Gets a 106 kWh battery pack featuring cylindrical NCMA cells, which supports direct oil-cooled battery systems. On one full charge, it gives the WLTP-certified range of 700 km and 696 km for standard and flagship variants, respectively. Supports a DC charger up to 600 kW, which takes only 11 minutes for 10 to 80 per cent charging. Notably, a charge of just 10 minutes adds a WLTP range of 460 km.

The standard GT 55 variant generates the maximum power of 816 hp, which makes the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration under 3 seconds; on the other hand, the flagship G5 63 variant has a peak power output of 1,169 hp, and its acceleration timing from 0 to 100 km/h is only 2.1 seconds. Notably, the maximum speed for both variants is 300 kmph, with the optional Driver’s Package.
On the tech end, it is equipped with active ride control suspension featuring hydraulically interconnected dampers, which ensures better ride comfort, very little body rolling, improved cornering precision, and adaptive damping control; and it features rear-wheel steering with up to six degrees of steering angle, which moves the rear wheels in the opposite direction at low speed, helping in easier turning, and in case of high speed, they move in the same direction, ensuring better stability.
Available with the seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 and features a boot space of 507, it helps in carrying four pieces of big luggage. The dashboard is equipped with a 10.2-inch drive display under the three-spoke steering wheel, a 14-inch infotainment system that is rotatable, and even gets a front-seating passenger display. Get two cupholders and a wireless phone charging pad at the front.
Also features the AMG Race Control System, which adjusts car performance settings, and AMG V8 Simulation Technology recreates AMG petrol-car emotion with artificial gearshifting sound. The expected price in the European market for the standard GT 55 is €150,000 to €170,000 (₹1.45 crore to ₹1.64 crore), and the same for the flagship GT 63 is €190,000 to €220,000 (₹1.84 crore to ₹2.13 crore).
