On July 29, 2026, the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz unveiled the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA Electric and revealed all the details. The international launch is expected by late 2026; reportedly, they will also introduce it in the Indian market, probably in 2027, replacing the second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA with an internal combustion engine powertrain.
Notably, the pure-electric third-generation GLA comes with two different battery packs, which are 58 kWh LFP and 85 kWh NMC. The 71 kWh LFP battery pack options will make their debut, most likely in early 2027. Currently, they have unveiled it in three variants, including 250, 250+, and 350 4MATIC. The first two variants get a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a single-speed automatic reduction gearbox at the rear axle.
The last one also has an induction motor on the front axle. Notably, the 250 and 250+ are available with rear-wheel drive, and the 350 4MATIC with an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. The power output of the first one is 224 hp, and the second is 272 hp, and they both have peak torque of 335 Nm. The third one delivers the power of 354 hp, but its peak torque is 515 Nm, whose acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is just 5.4 seconds.
The top speed for all three variants introduced is 210 kmph. The first one is equipped with a 58 kWh LFP and the last two with an 85 kWh NMC battery pack. Reportedly, the WLTP range for the 250, 250+, and 350 4MATIC is 447 km, 657 km, and 643 km, respectively. All variants are built on 800-volt electrical architecture, and they support DC chargers up to 320 kW, which adds the WLTP range of 270 km in just 10 minutes.
Dimensionally, the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA Electric is 4,565 mm longer, 1,873 mm wider, and 1,663 mm taller. For clarity, compared to the second-generation model, its length and width have increased by 102 mm and 39 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is even increased by 61 mm; now the distance between the front and rear axle measures 2,790 mm, improving rear legroom by 38 mm.
Come with the same seating capacity of 5 people in traditional 2-3 arrangements. Behind the second row, it has 410 liters of boot space, which is accessible via the tailgate. Notably, the rear seat features split folding in 40:20:40. Folding all the second-row seats increases the boot space by 1,400 liters, which enables carrying big luggage.
It also has a frunk (front trunk storage), which is for carrying small items. The dashboard has a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central infotainment touchscreen before the driving seat and at the center, respectively. The vehicle’s interior image also shows an entertainment screen before the co-passenger, but reports confirm that it will be available as an option.
The entire cockpit runs on the MBUX infotainment system with an AI-powered virtual assistant; it also supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The screens support over-the-air software updates to keep the system and smart features and technology updated. Other notable features are dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless smartphone charging.
All variants come with a standard panoramic sunroof, but the Sky Control panoramic roof with switchable transparency will be available as an option, which has 172 illuminated star ambient lighting. Outside, it has an illuminated front grille with up to 608 LED star elements, three-pointed star LED daylight running light with LED headlights, and side air curtains.
Key notable elements on the exterior are flush-type pop-up door handles; A-pillar-mounted ORVMs with integrated blinkers; a black roof to mount luggage or boxes on; black wheel arch cladding to add styling; a roof-integrated spoiler; a Mercedes-Benz logo on the tailgate; and modern LED taillights with a three-star signature and horizontal taillights on the tailgate that are connected with black trim.
