On June 30, 2026, after the long wait, Tata Motors has finally launched the Sierra EV, a battery-electric SUV, for the domestic market in two battery pack configurations and two drivetrain options that are RWD and QWD to cater to buyers looking for an affordable option and also for drivers who want to go on electrified light off-roading. Booking has started, and delivery is all set to begin from July 15, 2026.
The Sierra EV is the seventh electrified SUV in the electric vehicle lineup of the brand; it sits above the Curvv EV and below the Harrier EV. The QWD is available only in a single variant, that is, Empowered+, which costs ex-showroom ₹25.99 lakh.
The drivetrain options are both rear-wheel drive and quad-wheel drive, and battery lithium-ion pack configurations are 63 kWh and 75 kWh. The RWD variant is available with both battery packs; it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle. Notably, the electric motor is mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other hand, the QWD variant is available with the larger battery pack; it gets a PMSM on the rear axle and an induction motor on the front axle, which generate the power of 175 kW and 340 Nm and 103 kW and 164 Nm, respectively. Their combined maximum power output is 278 kW (372.80 bhp), and peak torque is 504 Nm (371.73 lb-ft), which helps it accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
The RWD variant with standard and large battery packs gives the ARAI-certified range of 556 km and 665 km, respectively, but the AWD variant runs up to 630 km under the same conditions. Built on an 800-volt electrical architecture, supporting fast DC charging. Reportedly, it can add an ARAI-certified range of 238 km and 263 km for variants with 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs, respectively, with charging in just 15 minutes.
Notably, it supports DC chargers up to 120 kW, which takes 26 minutes for 20 to 80 percent charging for the larger battery pack. Also supports vehicle-to-load up to 3.3 kW and vehicle-to-vehicle up to 5 kWh.
Upfront, it gets a closed-off grille on the front fascia, improving aerodynamics for better efficiency; a full-width connected LED daylight running light just below the hood, adding a futuristic touch; horizontal-shaped projector headlamps for high beam and lower beam, ensuring better visibility for nighttime driving; and a silver skid plate beneath the bumper to protect the underbody of the front fascia.

On the sides, it features flush-type doors to reduce drag, a large glass house to make the cabin feel airy, roof rails to help in mounting luggage, squared-off wheel arches to add ruggedness, diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels to make it appealing, and a front-door-mounted outside review mirror giving a clear view of the vehicle running behind.
At the back, it features a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate, creating a wide stance and a mirror front-end lighting signature; the Tata logo; and the SIERRA. EV lettering reflects the brand identity; a roof-integrated spoiler above the windshield helps with better airflow. Other highlights on the rear are a shark-fin antenna and a bumper-integrated reflector.
Built on acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle), which features an ultra-glide-5 link suspension system with frequency-selective damping to ensure a comfortable driving experience even on roads with potholes. Get ventilated disc brakes on all wheels with ABS and EBD to ensure powerful as well as safe braking.
Available with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with a 622 L boot space behind the rear seat that is capable of carrying up to 25 pieces of luggage. Also features a frunk (front storage trunk) of 55 liters that helps in carrying small items.

The dashboard gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features the IRA.ev connected car suite with a four-year free subscription and wireless multi-device connectivity, wireless Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.

For the entertainment of co-passengers, it also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen on the left of the infotainment system. Equipped with a JBL 12-speaker sound system to enhance the infotainment experience.
It also gets automatic climate control, six airbags, a rear camera with park assist, a rear wiper with a washer, an electric parking brake, a rear window sunblind, rear air conditioning vents, an air purifier, an augmented reality head-up display that projects driving data on the windshield, a wireless phone charging pad, and a ventilated front seat with a memory function for the driver’s seat.
