Renault is gearing up for a massive comeback in the Indian market with two highly anticipated SUVs. The French automaker is set to launch the Duster Hybrid by Diwali 2026, followed by the Bridger, a sub-4-metre compact SUV in 2027. The Bridger will debut with multiple powertrain options, including ICE, hybrid, and electric versions.

The car maker will reveal the price near launch, but it is expected that the Duster hybrid will cost ex-showroom between ₹19 lakh and ₹25 lakh, and the Bridger’s ex-showroom price is likely to start from ₹8 lakh and go up to ₹14 lakh, depending on the powertrain and variant. Let’s have a closer look at both upcoming SUVs from the manufacturer Renault.

The Duster Hybrid will feature advanced E-Tech technology, which ensures city driving in electric mode. It features a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and two motors, one as traction and another as a high-voltage starter generator, and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery under the hood with an 8-speed dedicated hybrid transmission featuring front-wheel drive drivetrain.

The combined power output is 160 bhp, and peak torque is 173 Nm. The fuel efficiency isn’t yet revealed, but is most anticipated to give a mileage between 24 kmpl and 26 kmpl, and is expected to give a range of more than 1,000 km on the full fuel tank. Its dimensions in terms of length, width and height are 4,346 mm, 1,815 mm and 1,701 mm, respectively.

The wheelbase is 2,657 mm, and the ground clearance is 212 mm. Comes with a seating capacity of 5 people with a boot space of 518 litres. Features 18-inch alloy wheels, which are 225/55. The cabin is equipped with a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster at the dashboard in the centre and under the steering wheel.

Both front seats are ventilated, and the driver’s seat is electronically adjustable in 6 ways. Other notable features are a PM 2.5 air filter, dual-zone automatic climate control, a powered panoramic sunroof, 48-colour ambient lighting, a powered tailgate, a wireless smartphone charging pad, 6 airbags and level 2 ADAS.

The Bridger is all set to be based on R-GMP (Renault Global Modular Platform), whose length would be under 4 metres. It will feature a seating capacity of 5 people in a traditional layout with a cargo capacity of around 400 litres. The interior for all three powertrains is set to be the same; it is expected that the cabin will feature a large touchscreen infotainment system and also a digital instrument cluster.

Inside, it will also feature wireless charging, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof for convenience. For safety, the car is set to come with 6 airbags and Level 1 ADAS. The expected specifications for the powertrain are discussed below.

  • The ICE is expected to come with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which generates the power of 114 bhp and torque of 190 Nm. It will feature the drivetrain of front-wheel drive and may come with a 6-speed MT and CVT transmission.
  • The hybrid will get the same engine as the ICE but with two electric motors; one will act as a generator, and the other will run the wheel and a small battery pack. Its drivetrain is set to be FWD, and the transmission is expected to be an 8-speed DHT.
  • The EV will get a PMSM on the front axle featuring an FWD configuration, whose transmission will be a single-speed automatic, standard in the segment. Likely to be offered with two battery packs, standard and long-range, with an electrical architecture of 400-volt enabling fast DC charging.
