Onvo to Begin L80 Presales on April 28, Offers Up to 2,840 Liters Cargo Capacity

The Onvo, the sub-brand of Chinese automaker Nio Inc., will start the presale for the L80, an all-electric five-seater SUV, on April 28, 2026, likely with the price of 230,000 to 280,000 Chinese yuan for the domestic market, depending on variants, which is equivalent to 33,643 to 40,957 US dollars. Domestically, it will compete with Li Auto L9.

In the company lineup, it sits between L60 and L90. It comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a traditional layout of 2 and 3. The front two get single seats, but the rear three features bench-like seating. Its dimensions in terms of length and wheelbase are 5,145 mm and 3,130 mm, and there are a total of 53 independent storage areas across the cabin.

It has a boot space of 1,200 liters and can easily carry 10 big pieces of luggage, and there’s also a frunk (front trunk) of 240 liters that can carry up to five pieces of small bags. The rear seats are foldable; folding them increases the cargo space to 2,600 litres, meaning the total luggage carry capacity is 2,840 litres, which is the largest in the segment.

The details regarding its power stance will be revealed near the launch. But few things are available about it in the public domain; it is that the vehicle is based on Nio’s NT 3.0 platform and is a fully electric vehicle, not a PHEV. The key detail about the platform is that it supports fast charging and battery swapping.

Reports say that the L80 is a five-seater version of its sibling, L90. Interestingly, it seems so because the wheelbase and length that the automaker unveiled for the L80 are the same as the L90. It may come with both single-motor RWD and double-motor AWD drivetrains with single-motor automatic transmissions, like the L90.

The L90 is offered with two battery packs, 60 kWh and 80 kWh. A report says that the L80 may come with only larger battery packs from them with a CLTC range of 80 km. Its electrical architecture is set to be 900-volt, so it is likely to support DC chargers up to 350 kW, which take within 15 minutes for a 20-80% charge.

Design Highlights

The automakers have teased the L80 officially; it is based on the ‘smart large executive SUV’ philosophy with the focus on clean surfaces, aerodynamics and practical proportions. Up front, it gets a headlight setup; the LED DRLs are placed above and LED headlamps lower, featuring a modern look and a closed-off grill for better aerodynamics and EV styling.

In profile, the vehicle features a large glass area to make the cabin airy. The entry door gets flush-type handles to reduce drag and improve efficiency. For better road grip and eye-catching side profile, it features large alloy wheels. The rear gets a full-width LED tail light bar and LED taillamps and a glossy black bumper to add a premium touch.

Interior Specs

The interior of the L80 is expected to be identical to its sibling L90. A 17.2-inch 3K central touchscreen is certain to be at the centre of the dashboard for the infotainment of occupants, which also acts as the control panel of the cabin. Instead of a digital instrument cluster, it is set to feature a 35-inch AR HUD to show driving data on the windscreen so the driver stays focused on driving.

For rear seating passengers, it may have a 17.3-inch roof-mounted display, which can be controlled via the 8-inch rear control screen. To ensure an immersive audio experience inside the cabin, it features a 23-speaker premium sound system. Front and rear seats are expected to come with ventilation, heating and massage functions.
