The South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai is all set to launch its seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle, the Hyundai Stargazer, in the Indian market. It is already available for sale in the internal market; its launch in the Indian market is anticipated in the first quarter of 2027, with the ex-showroom price ranging between 13-15 lakh rupees.

Reportedly, the launch will happen with the same specifications and features, with it being offered globally but with a few tweaks in the exterior and interior and also feature upgrades. Dimensionally, it measures 4,460 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,695 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,780 mm, and ground clearance is 205 mm. Set to be introduced with two wheel sizes: 15-inch and 16-inch in diameter.

Up front, it features a split headlight setup; the full-width LED daylight running lights are placed on the nose, giving it a modern touch, and the main vertically stacked headlamps are integrated with the bumper. The Hyundai logo at the centre just above the large trapezoidal mesh-style grille reflects the branding, and the sculpted bumper also gets angular air intakes for the cooling of the engine.

On the side, it gets flared wheel arches, large alloy wheels, mechanical door handles, double-toned powered outside rear-view mirrors with integrated indicators, and black-out window trim; the rear comes with full-width LED taillights that connect with the triangular taillamp, forming an H shape, an integrated spoiler with a brake light, a shark-fin antenna, and Hyundai’s emblem on the tailgate.

Large boot space and powered front seats

Will comes with seating for six people in a layout of 2-2-2, featuring captain seats in the second row and seven individuals in a configuration of 2-3-2. Behind the third-row seats is 200 litres; by folding the rear seats, it can be expanded up to 585 litres. When both the second and third-row seats are down, the cargo capacity increases to 1,892 litres, which helps in carrying multiple big pieces of luggage easily.

Inside, it is set to feature a two-spoke steering wheel with a Hyundai emblem on it and physical buttons for control, under which there’s a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data, such as speed, fuel and others, and the centre dashboard also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system just above the central console that supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth.

Upcoming Hyundai Stargazer interior

Reportedly, it will feature an electrically adjustable and ventilated front, and the driver’s seat may also get a memory function. A large panoramic sunroof is also anticipated, with heat and UV rays. Other features expected are a storage compartment including cup holders, a wireless phone charging pad, USB charging ports in both rows, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an eight-speaker BOSE premium audio system, six airbags, and a 360° camera.

Smooth suspension and powerful braking

Its engine layout is front-mounted, the drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and the steering is electric power steering. The front suspension is a MacPherson strut, ensuring good ride comfort, but the rear is a coupled torsion beam axle, helping to provide good ride quality.

The front wheels may get ventilated disc brakes, providing better heat absorption and powerful braking, but the rear is anticipated to feature drum brakes that are ideal for braking of rear wheels in multipurpose vehicles. For safety braking, it is all set to get an anti-locking braking system with an electronic braking system to ensure wheels don’t get locked up and braking force is distributed among all wheels.

Two transmission options and decent mileage

Under the hood, it may feature a 1,497 cc inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve 1.5-litre Smartstream G1.5 MPI (Multi-Point Injection) naturally aspirated petrol internal combustion engine, whose power output is 113 bhp and peak torque is 144 Nm. Set to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).

Notably, the acceleration timing from 0 to 100 km/h is expected to be under 12 seconds and the top speed is most likely to be 175 km/h. It may be launched with ARAI-certified fuel efficiency around 17 kmpl, but the real-world is anticipated to be 14 kmpl in mixed driving conditions; with a fuel tank of 40 litres, it is highly anticipated to run up to 1440 kilometres.
