Maruti Suzuki Flex-Fuel Car Launching June 5 – India’s First Ethanol-Compatible SUV
On June 5, 2026, on the occasion of Environment Day, Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the flex-fuel car; it is confirmed by our Road Transport and Highways minister, Nitin Gadkari. The upcoming car from the carmaker is expected to support 100 per cent ethanol-blending fuel; however, they are yet to confirm about it.
As of now, there’s no four-wheeler in the Indian automobile market that runs on flex fuel; the launch of the upcoming car from Maruti Suzuki will be the first one in India. Notably, back in 2025, Suzuki showcased the flex-fuel version of the Fronx, a compact sport utility vehicle, at the Japan Mobility Show.
The version that was showcased at the JMS in 2025 was capable of E85 fuel, meaning that it was capable of supporting up to 85 per cent ethanol blending. Some reports suggest that the model of flex fuel which Maruti Suzuki is going to launch, may be the revised version of the Fronx E85.
It is yet to be seen if the soon-to-launch flex-fuel car from Maruti Suzuki will be compatible with the 100 per cent ethanol blending. If it happens, it would be a big achievement for the Indian automotive sector, because it is likely to significantly reduce India’s crude oil imports from abroad.
Specification & Features Expectations

The upcoming flex fuel car from Maruti Suzuki is highly expected to be based on the Fronx, which was showcased last year in Japan, so in terms of dimensions, its length, width and height will be 3,995 mm, 1,765 mm and 1,550 mm, respectively. The wheelbase and ground clearance may remain 2,520 mm and 190 mm, respectively, as the original Fronx.
It is certain that it will come with the seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 and will also feature a good boot space to carry luggage. Design is most expected to remain the same as the one showcased in the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which features a split lighting setup, a modern black grille in mesh structure, and Suzuki’s logo at the centre just below the hood at the front end.
On the sides, it has squared black-outed wheels with the large alloy wheels, and even its ORVMs and window surroundings are black-outed. The mechanical door handles are retained to ensure practicality, and roof-mounted rails help in carrying boxes and big luggage on the roof. The rear features full-width LED taillights, an integrated roof spoiler and a minimalist tailgate design.
The interior may also remain the same as the original Fronx, which means it may be equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, which will be based on SmartPlay Pro+ and support both wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. May also feature Suzuki Connect for OTA updates.
Other interior feature exceptions are cup holders, a wireless phone charging pad for convenience, USB charging ports in both rows, rear AC vents for rear seating passenger cooling during hot weather, a six-speaker audio system to enhance the infotainment system, a voice assistant, ISOFIX child seat mounts, six airbags, and much more.
Reportedly, Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming flex-fuel car is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated K-Series DualJet four-cylinder engine, which may generate power around 90 hp and peak torque near 113 Nm.
Notably, there’s no word from the officials about its pricing. Some reports suggest that, depending on the variant, it may be available with the ex-showroom price starting from 10 lakh and going up to 15 lakh.
