The production-ready version of the sport utility vehicle based on the Mahindra Vision S has been spotted testing on public roads in Bengaluru, India, as in previous sightings. This time also, it is heavily camouflaged to hide the exterior design. It is set to be the first vehicle to come to them under Mahindra’s banner underpinning the NU-IQ platform.
The Indian carmaker, Mahindra Auto, is likely to introduce the model as a sub-4-meter sport utility vehicle, reviving the Scorpio nameplate; however, the confirmation regarding it is still pending. Reports suggest that its global debut will take place on August 14, 2026, followed by the market launch around the festive season of 2026 or early 2027.
The spotting has revealed that the production has a grill with vertical slats, integrated LED daylight running lights and headlamps, bumper-integrated ice-cube-style fog lights, an upright stance, a sculpted bonnet, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirrors, flush-type door handles, wheel arch cladding, a side-opening tailgate with a spare wheel, and vertically oriented LED taillamps.
We are expecting its overall design to be quite similar to the concept with a few changes and tweaks. Will feature seating capacity of 5 people with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for the driver, co-passenger, and rear seating occupants. No details regarding its length are available in the public domain; it may measure 3.9 meters with a wheelbase of around 2.6 meters.
In the previous spotting, we got to see its interior, from which we got a rough idea of how the cabin of production is likely to be. It is certain they will introduce this vehicle to the Indian market as a petrol-powered and diesel-powered internal combustion engine vehicle; after that, it may also make its debut also as a battery electric vehicle.
Details regarding its powertrain are still unconfirmed. Many reports suggest that it will be available for sale in the Indian market with all three internal combustion engine options that are offered with the Mahindra XUV 3XO. They are:
- The first option is a 1,197 cc 3-cylinder 1.2 L mStallion Turbocharged Multi-Point Fuel Injection (TCMPFi) petrol-powered engine, which generates the maximum power of 82 kW (111 PS) at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 200 Nm at 1,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm. It is available with two transmission options, which are 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, and the drivetrain is front-wheel drive; the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 18.89 km/l with MT and 17.96 km/l with AT.
- The second option is a 1,197 cc 3-cylinder 1.2 L mStallion Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (TGDi) petrol-powered engine, which delivers 96 kW (130 PS) power at 5,000 rpm and 230 Nm torque at 1,500 rpm to 3,750 rpm. It is also available with two gearboxes, which are 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, and even its drivetrain is front-wheel drive. The fuel efficiency is 20.1 km/l with MT and 18.2 km/l with AT on the ARAI-certified condition.
- The third option is a 1,497 cc 3-cylinder 1.5 L turbo diesel with Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) diesel power, whose maximum power output is 85.8 kW (117 PS) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm at 1,500 rpm to 2,500 rpm. It also has two transmission options, but they are 6-speed manual and 6-speed AutoSHIFT+. Its drivetrain is also front-wheel-drive. The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 20.6 km/l with MT and 21.2 km/l with AutoSHIFT+.
Now it remains to be seen whether they will introduce the SUV based on the Mahindra Vision S all three ICE options or just offer petrol-powered. Even thoug details regarding the price are pending, but reports suggest it will cost ex-showroom between ₹8 lakh and ₹15 lakh.
