Hyundai Motor India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company, is all set to launch 26 models in India by 2030, including updates and new nameplates. This confirmation comes from 2026 CEO Investor Day. Among these upcoming models, two are those whose launch is very near. These two are the A-segment all-electric SUV and the mid-size ICE-powered SUV.
These two upcoming SUVs under the banner of Hyundai have been spotted testing in the Indian market. Of the two, the first one’s launch is slated for the last quarter of 2026, and the latter’s debut may happen in early 2027. Let’s have a closer look at these two near-to-launch sport utility vehicles.
A-segment all-electric SUV
The A-segment EV car from Hyundai is all set to measure under 4 meters, with the wheelbase around 2.6 meters. The spy shot reveals that this upcoming all-electric car has an upright stance due to which the cabin is going to be quite spacious for all occupants. They are yet to reveal the model officially. The most anticipated for its unveiling and launch is October 2026.
The image of the test mule floating on the web has already revealed that it will have a split headlight setup; the daylight running light is all set to be just below the hood and main headlamps on the bumper. Other details that spied images have revealed include A-pillar ORVMs, blacked-out pillars, roof rails, pronounced wheel arches, hidden flush-type door handles, a roof-integrated rear spoiler, and a slim horizontal taillight with black trim at the center.
Set to be available as a five-seater in a 2-3 layout, decent boot space is expected behind the second one. No details on its drivetrain are available, but it is most likely to be available for sale as FWD, getting a PMSM with a 1-speed automatic transmission on the front axle. Two LFP battery packs giving two differences in the MIDC conditions are certain. For this car the next-gen infotainment system and level 2 ADAS suite are officially confirmed.
Mid-size ICE-powered SUV
The upcoming mid-size SUV, which may also be referred to as a B-segment vehicle, is set to be based on the Bayon, a small crossover SUV developed by Hyundai primarily for the European market. Its dimensions are still there; we are expecting to measure around 4.2 meters, as the Bayon that is already on sale in the United Kingdom is 4.18 meters longer.
Reports confirm that this SUV is based on the same architecture that underpins the Hyundai i20 ICE hatchback. It also has been spotted testing multiple times on public roads. The spy shots of the same also have revealed that this SUV is set to feature a quite long wheelbase to enhance seating comfort and practicality for the occupants.
The spied image shows that it does have a split headlight setup with slim DRLs above and headlamps below. Other details that are clearly visible on the spy shots include roof rails, mechanical door handles, large alloy wheels, and A-pillar-mounted powered ORVMs integrating blinkers. Reports suggest that based on the pure petrol, it will also come with a CNG option but only with automatic transmission.
These two upcoming SUVs from Hyundai will strengthen its positioning in the sub-4-meter segment as EV and B-segment ICE. The South Korean automobile manufacturer is one of the key players in the Indian automotive market; last month, they sold a total of 54,210 units, registering a 36.77% month-on-month growth and 23.28% year-on-year growth.
In the 2026 CEO Investor Day, they have revealed a plan to add 3.2 lakh units in annual manufacturing capacity by 2030; as of now, their annual production capacity is 11 lakh. If they were able to achieve the goal they had aimed for by the anticipated timeline, they would have been producing 14.2 lakh units annually.
