Hero MotoCorp, the Indian multinational motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, is developing two battery electric motorcycles for the domestic market, and the first one is expected to make its debut in the Indian market in 2027. After launching the battery electric scooters under the banner of VIDA, they are now preparing to introduce battery electric bikes.
Notably, the electric motorcycles they are working on are based on two dedicated platforms, which were showcased as a concept at the EICMA 2025. Of the two, one is codenamed UBEX and the other is VXZ. On the former, they are developing a supermoto e-motorcycle, and the latter is also underpinning a street-naked e-bike, but with the collaboration of Zero Motorcycles, a US-based company.
In the Indian market, Hero Motocorp is all set to sell these electric motorcycles under the banner of VIDA. Notably, the production name for either of them is not yet revealed. Recently, VIDA patented the design for the electric motor that is set to be based on VZX. The filing image reveals that it has V-shaped LED daylight running lights and rounded LED headlights, giving it a modern touch.
The VZX concept showcased at the International Motorcycle and Accessories Exhibition 2025 has USD forks as front and monoshock as rear suspension and disc brakes on both five-spoke alloy wheels. The patent images confirm all these features. Other things that we get to know through the patent images are split seats, a slender tail section, and muscular body panels.
Inside the tubular trellis frame’s center, it gets a lithium-ion battery pack, whose capacity is still pending, as Hero Motocorp hasn’t yet revealed any specifications for this upcoming electric motor. Of the two, we are expecting it to make its debut first. Following the launch in the Indian market, it will compete with the Ultraviolette F77 and the Orxa Mantis, as per automotive media reports.
As the first electric motorcycle from Hero Motocorp is to be positioned against these two above-mentioned e-bikes, we are expecting that it will cost around ₹3.5 lakh. Details regarding the battery pack and motor setup are still pending; it may get a rear wheel hub-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with a single-speed automatic transmission, whose power output is anticipated to be around 20 kW.
The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is expected to be under 8 seconds, and top speed may be around 150 km/h. A lithium-ion battery pack of around 10 kWh is expected to be offered, giving an IDC range of around 300 km. The manufacturer will make public the actual details at the launch event; there is a probability that they will introduce the model in multiple variants.
The UBEX concept showcased at the EICMA 2025 had a tall stance, a partially exposed frame, sleek body paneling, and a high-set tail. There’s no update on this electric motorcycle from Hero Motocorp. Its patent filing is still pending. Since the preview of the UBEX concept last year, no news or updates regarding this e-bike have emerged, but we are hoping for updates on it in the near future.
