The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, a mid-size sport utility vehicle, is available for sale in the Indian market from September 22, 2022, with the ex-showroom price starting from ₹10.77 lakh for the standard variant, which goes up to ₹19.57 lakh for the top trim. It has achieved the milestone of 4 lakh domestic sales in India in 46 months and has become the second model under the Nexa lineup to achieve this milestone.
In the financial year 2023, between September 2022 and March 2023, a total of 51,315 units were sold out. In FY 2024, the sales increased to 121,169 units, registering a year-on-year growth of 136%. After that, in FY 2025 and FY 2026, they sold 123,946 and 83,849 units, registering YoY growth and decline of 2% and 32%, respectively.
In the first quarter of financial year 2026-27, between April 2026 and June 2026, a total of 20,728 units were sold out. The sale figures for July 2026 are made public; the carmaker has dispatched a total of 8,127 domestically, giving a good start for the second quarter of FY 2027. As of July 2026, since the launch, a total of 409,134 units have been sold.
After the launch, to achieve the first 1 lakh sales, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara took only 12 months and then 10 months for the next one lakh. After 2 lakh sales, 1 more lakh sales were achieved in a timeframe of 10 months, and the last one, which helped in reaching the milestone of 4 lakh sales, took 14 months.
Out of total sales, in 2026, between January and July, a total of 53,928 units have been dispatched, including 7,030 in January, 5,859 in February, 6,746 in March, 7,718 in April, 9,366 in May, 9,092 in June, and 8,127 in July. On a month-on-month basis, it registered a 16.7% decline in February, 2.9% in June, and 10.6% in July; and 15.1% growth in March, 14.4% in April, and +21.4% in May.
As a five-seater in a 2-3 layout, it is available for sale with three different powertrains. They are 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol, 1.5L strong-hybrid petrol, and 3 1.5L CNGs. The first one gets a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine, which is available with two different transmission options: 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. Its power output and peak torque are 103 hp and 137 Nm, respectively.
The second one features a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack, which is mated with an e-CVT. The maximum power output is 115 hp, and peak torque is 141 Nm. The third one also has a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder K15C engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Its power output is 87.8 hp, and peak torque is 121.5 Nm in the CNG mode.
Dimensionally, it is 4,345 mm longer, 1,795 mm wider, and 1,645 mm taller. Its wheelbase is 2,600 mm, ground clearance is 210 mm when unladen, and turning radius is 5.4 meters. Sits on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/60 tires. The fuel tank capacity is 45 liters. Behind the second row, it has a boot space of 265 liters for strong hybrids; for others, the same is 373 liters to carry luggage.
Inside, it gets a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ Touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which is integrated with Arkamy’s sound system, including 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. Its center console has a wireless phone charging pad, ventilated front seats, and a powered adjustable driver seat.
