Chey Automobile, the Chinese automobile manufacturer, has collaborated with JSW Motor, the upcoming Indian carmaker, to launch a new energy vehicle in India under the JSW banner. They have already patented many vehicles in India to launch via local assembly at JSW’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant.
After patenting the Chery ICAUR V23, now they have patented two new models; they are the Exeed ET8 and the Omoda O4. The patent image shows that their design is similar to ones that are already on sale in the Chinese market. In India, they are likely to launch with the same specifications and features. Let’s have a closer look at these vehicles.
Exeed ET8
The Exeed, the performance automobile brand of Chery, sells the ET8, a six-seater flagship luxury extended-range electric vehicle, not only in China but also in some internal markets, whose dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 5,205 mm, 1,998 mm, and 1,800 mm, respectively. Features a seating capacity of six people in a 2-2-2 layout with the boot space of 450 litres behind the third row.
Outside, it has F-shaped LED daylight running lights with integrated LED headlamps, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirrors that also integrate blinkers in a slim horizontal shape, and a coach door with hidden door handles similar to what we get to see in the recently unveiled Genesis GV90.
Other details that are clearly visible on its exterior are flared wheel arches for styling and roof-mounted rails to enhance practicality, a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate that connects with vertically orientated taillamps on the sides, a roof-integrated spoiler, a large rear windscreen, and a silver skid plate on the bumper.
Its dashboard has a 30-inch ultra-wide integrated display, which includes an infotainment system and entertainment screen for the co-passenger. For rear seating passengers’ entertainment, it also features a ceiling-mounted 17.3-inch display. In the second row, it has a 9.2-litre built-in refrigerator.
As an EREV, it gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol-powered ICE with 44.5% thermal efficiency under the hood that generates and provides 1 litre of fuel into 3.7 kWh of electricity. Equipped with two e-motors featuring an AWD drivetrain and delivering a power output of 469 hp and peak torque of 660 Nm, making 0 to 100 km/h sprinting possible in just 5.4 seconds.
Omoda O4
Omoda, Chery’s only export brand, has already started exporting the O4 crossover SUV, which is also known as the 4. It’s a C-segment SUV whose global debut happened at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, and in late 2026, they also showcased it on July 27, 2026, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Its length, width, and height are 4,420 mm, 1,870 mm and 1,570 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
It has a split LED headlight setup with zig-zag-style daylight running lights and bumper-integrated horizontal-orientated main headlamps. Its side has squared-off black wheel arches cladding, front-end-mounted ORVMs, and semi-hidden flush-type handles for the doors. Its rear features a roof spoiler with a horizontal stop/braking light and a full-width LED taillight in a zig-zag pattern.
It is available with three different powertrains, which are HEV, BEV and ICE. The HEV version gets a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol with two electric motors and delivers power up to 166 kW; the BEV gets an electric motor on the front axle and a 66.05 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers the maximum power of 66.05 kWh; and the ICE gets a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol with a 7-speed DCG which puts out 110 kW.
Its cabin gets a 50W high-speed wireless phone charging pad at the centre console, a 13.2-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, black leather bucket-style sports seats, a “Lamborghini-style” starter, 1,126 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat, a built-in mobile gaming cockpit, and others.
