The German luxury automobile manufacturer, BMW, has started bookings for the all-new BMW 7 Series, ICE version, and BMW i7, EV model, on August 1, 2026. Anyone who is interested can book through BMW India’s website or dealership. They haven’t yet announced the price for either model. Notably, the market launch is expected to take place in September 2026, and delivery will take place a month after that, probably in October 2026.
They will announce the price for both with the launch. The outgoing 7 Series and i7 are available with ex-showroom prices of ₹1.85 crore and ₹2.05 crore, respectively. The facelifts that will replace them are anticipated to cost between ₹1.95 crore and ₹2.35 crore. A facelift of the 7 Series and i7 is set to strengthen its positioning against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8 L, and Mercedes-Benz EQS and Porsche Taycan, respectively.
Outside, it now comes with a new illuminated BMW kidney grille and alloy wheel design and redesigned split LED headlights, including a main headlamp near air curtains and a slim daylight running below the hood. Inside, it features a completely redesigned dashboard to enhance the premiumness and aesthetic; it has a 7.9-inch infotainment touchscreen at the centre and a 14.6-inch front passenger display under the steering wheel.
In terms of dimensions, both facelifts are the same. Their length is 5,391 mm with a 1,544 mm wheelbase, 1,950 mm width and 1,544 mm height. The 7 Series is offered in two variants, which are 740i xDrive and 740d xDrive. The former one gets a 3.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol internal combustion engine, whose peak output and torque are 400 hp and 580 Nm, respectively. Its acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 5.1 seconds.
The latter one features a 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel-powered ICE, which delivers the power of 313 hp and peak torque of 670 Nm. To sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Both engines are mated with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission; they also feature a 48V mild-hybrid system. The top speed for both is 250 km/h, and the drivetrain is xDrive all-wheel drive.
On the other hand, the i7 is available with three different ICE options, which are i7 M70 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive, and i7 50 xDrive. All three variants get an induction motor on the front axle and a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle and the familiar xDrive AWD drivetrain. The front motor is secondary, and the rear one is primary, which is bolted with single-speed automatic transmission.
All these three variants get a 112.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack; the WLTP range of the first two is 728 km, and the last one is 605 km. The maximum power and peak torque are 455 hp and 660 Nm, respectively, for the first one; 544 hp and 745 Nm for the second; and 680 hp and 1,100 Nm for the third one. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 5.5 seconds, 4.7 seconds, and 3.7 seconds for the i7 M70 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive, and i7 50 xDrive, respectively.
The top speed for the first variant is 205 km/h, and the same for the second is 240 km/h, and for the third is 250 km/h. The i7 facelift, all three variants, are built on 400-volt high-voltage electrical architecture and support DC chargers up to 250 kW, which take 28 minutes for 10 to 80 per cent charging. The standard 11 kW AC charger takes 11 hours for 0 to 100 per cent charging but can support up to 22 kW, which takes only 5.5 hours for full charging.
