The name for the upcoming Hyundai mid-size ICE-powered support utility vehicle for India is now officially confirmed by the carmaker; they have confirmed that this upcoming SUV will be introduced in the Indian market as Hyundai Bayon. The confirmation of the nameplate is a hint towards its near launch in the Indian market.
Previous reports suggest that Hyundai will launch this mid-side SUV in the country around the festive season, but there is no official confirmation from the manufacturer. The speculation of launch in October 2026 and November 2026 is further fueled with the unveiling of the nameplate.
The most recent spy shot of this mid-size SUV from Hyundai was found wearing a camo with the text ‘BRING IT ON’, where the “ON” was highlighted with the red colour, hinting at its name; and now with the disclosure of the nameplate, it became official. Apart from announcing the car name, no details are made public by the manufacturer.
What do we know about the Hyundai Bayon midsize SUV?
A total of six SUVs from Hyundai are already on sale in the Indian market, including the Exterior, Venue, Venue N Line, Creta (Spyshot), Creta N Line, and Alcazar. The upcoming one, Bayon, is a midsize SUV, which will be placed between the Venue and Creta. All its specifications and features will be made public officially by the manufacturer in the coming weeks.
The launch of Bayon will add the seventh model in the SUV lineup; it has been spotted testing on the public road multiple times, after which many details have already emerged about its exterior. Upfront it has a split LED lighting setup; the daylight running lights are placed above, and the main headlines are mounted with the bumper below the DRL strip.
The DRL isn’t clearly visible because upper portions of the same are hidden with the camo; it seems that the DRL will resemble the H-shape connecting with a black trim in the centre. Spied images which show the side portion reveal that it will have the squared-off wheel arches, flat roofline, roof-mounted prominent rails, conventional door handle, and double-tone alloy wheels.
The spy shots which show the rear profile of this upcoming SUV only reveal that the taillight will be in the slim horizontal shape, and there will be a roof-integrated spoiler that will help with enhancing the stability at high speed. We will get to know about its exterior design at the launch event, where they will also reveal all the specifications and features along with the pricing.
Any update on the dimensions and powertrain of the Hyundai Bayon?
The Hyundai Bayon’s dimensions and powertrain details are still pending. The length is anticipated to be around 4.2 metres, and the wheelbase is expected to be around 2.7 metres. Under the hood, it may get a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine that will deliver 115 hp of power. Many reports have suggested this powertrain.
Reports suggest that the ICE will be available with both a six-speed manual gearbox and a continuously variable transmission. Hyundai has confirmed that they will also introduce a CNG-powered model for this car with the same engine as the pure petrol, but power output will be a little lesser.
Hyundai Bayon expected features and technology.
The cabin of the upcoming Hyundai mid-size ICE-powered SUV is still behind the wrap. The Pleos Connect is expected for this car, which consists of a slim digital instrument cluster and large touchscreen infotainment system supporting natural voice command and connected car technology with over-the-air software updates.
Other features that are reported to be equipped with this car are the ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, Level 2 advanced driving assistant system suite, ambient lighting, multi-zone automatic climate control, D-shaped steering wheel with physical buttons for control and setting, and four-dot Hyundai branding.
