Mahindra Auto will soon launch a sub-4-metre SUV in the Indian market, strengthening its position in the most competitive segment. They have not officially released anything about this upcoming compact-size car, but reports suggest that it will be based on the Vision S concept that they showcased back in 2025 for the Freedom NU event.
The Indian automobile manufacturer has yet to confirm the nameplate for this upcoming SUV. Various reports suggest that S in the Vision S concept stands for ‘Scorpio’, and this upcoming SUV will extend the nameplate. On the road, it has been spied testing multiple times.
Recently the Vision S-based sub-4-metre sport utility vehicle has been spotted testing again. The spy shots floating on the web are shared by CarWale. For the first time, there are spy shots that also reveal what it is going to get inside the cabin. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming car.
What does the interior spied image reveal?
This is the first time that the upcoming Vision S-based SUV’s cabin spy shots have surfaced. These spied images show the dashboard is similar to the concept version; the production model seems to have two 10.25-inch screens, one as an infotainment system and another as a digital instrument cluster.
Other details that we get to know through the interior spied image are the vertically oriented air conditioning vents between the screens to keep the co-passenger and driver cool during the hot days. The centre console that is available between the co-passenger and driver seat has a gear selector and electronic parking brake.
A rounded two-spoke steering wheel is clearly visible before the co-passenger seat, same as the one we get to see on the Mahindra BE 6; as it is a test mule, we are expecting that the final production model that will make its debut in India will have the steering wheel similar to the one shown in the concept.
Reports suggest that this upcoming mid-size sport utility vehicle will have multiple cup holders across the cabin, enhancing practicality, and a wireless phone charging pad for driver, and co-passenger phone charging convenience.

What else do we know about this upcoming car?
The to-be-launched Vision S-based SUV from Mahindra Auto, has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads, but all the spy shots have surfaced are heavy camouflage. After the multiple sightings, many details regarding this upcoming compact SUV exterior design have emerged.
This upcoming Mahindra sub-4-metre SUV will have an upright silhouette with a tall-body stance, giving it a body appearance; the grille at the front seems to have a six-slat design, and the inverted-L-shaped headlights similar to the concept are most likely.
The muscular clamshell bonnet, flush-type door handles enhancing aerodynamics, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirror integrating a side indicator, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, pronounced wheel arches, and C-pillar taillamps with additional rectangular lamps.
Dimensions for this upcoming compact-size vehicle will be revealed with the launch. The size is confirmed to be above 3.9 metres with a wheelbase around 2.6 metres. The seating layout is set to be 2-3, and there will be a cargo capacity behind the second row, whose capacity is also pending.
Any other details that are officially confirmed?
Revealing the Vision S concept, Mahindra Auto confirmed that this upcoming compact SUV will be based on the NU_IQ platform, which supports both ICE-powered cars and all-electric vehicles. Reports confirm that firstly the carmaker will launch the model as an ICE version, and after that there will also be an EV counterpart with a few design and features changes on the exterior and interior.
Things regarding its launch as pure petrol are still uncertain. Some reports suggest that they will unveil it in early 2027, and then the market launch will take place shortly. The pricing is still pending. As it is coming as a sub-4-metre SUV to compete with Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Skoda Kylaq, its ex-showroom price may start at ₹9 lakh.
