Earlier, we reported that Ather Energy, the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, will unveil a new electric scooter based on Ather’s new EL platform on August 29, 2026. In the same report, we talked about it going to be the production model of the Ather EL01 concept, unveiled at Community Day 2025, but the nameplate was uncertain.
On August 5, 2026, the manufacturer confirmed the name of the first electric scooter from the Ather to be based on the EL platform. It is Ather Konarc. Notably, the Indian electric 2W maker won’t only unveil the model on Community Day 2026, exactly one year after the concept unveiling, but also launch it, revealing the price, specs, and features.
Recently, the upcoming e-scooter was spotted testing in the Himalayan region to determine its high-altitude and cold-weather performance and battery efficiency. The spy shots of testing show the Ather Konarc in a convoy with other e-scooters from the brand, including the Ather Rizta and Ather 450. Notably, the upcoming one was highly camouflaged, and others were undisguised.
The Ather Konarc has been spotted testing on public roads in India multiple times. After multiple sightings, many details regarding its design have emerged. In the first sight of the spy shots, you will find that its design is quite similar to the EL01 concept, which gets a C-shaped daylight running light in the apron, a horizontal-shaped LED headlamp on the cowl, and ATHER lettering on the black trim placed just above the DRLs to reflect branding.
The concept gets a single large and wide seat to ensure better seating comfort for both rider and pillion; two glove boxes just below the handlebar for carrying small items; a spacious footboard for better ergonomics; foldable footpegs behind the footboard for pillion’s leg support and cushioning; and a grab rail at the seat’s seat end for pillion’s back support and secure handhold.
The rear section of the EL01 concept gets C-shaped LED taillamps, above which it has ATHER lettering on the black trim, mirroring the front-end lighting signature. All the details that we get to see on the concept version are expected to be available on the production model with a few tweaks and changes to make this scooter more appealing. To know about its actual design and exterior features, we have to wait until the model’s market launch.
The spy shots have confirmed that the Ather Konarc gets alloy wheels with a solid disc at the front and a drum at the rear, standard braking features for the electric scooter in the segment. Reports have already confirmed it is coming with Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System, which significantly reduces stopping distance and minimizes rear-wheel lock-up. We aren’t sure about the wheel size, but it seems to be 14 inches in diameter.
Suspension details are confirmed; it gets a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear. Other than that, it is sure to get a handlebar-mounted looking glass to get the rear view and a large TFT instrument cluster between the handlebars showing all the riding-related information. The display is set to support Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn and connected vehicle functions.
Set to get a swingarm-mounted electric motor, whose power output and torque are still pending. We are expecting Ather Konarc to be equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack between 2 kWh and 5 kWh. They are most likely to launch this electric scooter in more than one variant, depending on the battery pack, giving a range between 125 km and 200 km on the Indian driving cycle.
As of now, there are no details about its price; there is high speculation that it will be available for sale in India with a starting ex-showroom price of 1 lakh rupees. Ather Energy is all set to position this EL platform-based electric scooter against the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Vida VX2.
