Mahindra Vision X Patent Reveals Near-Production Design Ahead Of 2027 Debut

The Mahindra Vision X, the concept sport utility vehicle, showcased at the Freedom_NU event on August 15, 2025, has been patented in India by Mahindra Auto. The patent images show it is similar to the original concept that was previewed last year. We are expecting that its production model, whose name is still pending, may debut in 2027 with a similar design with only a few tweaks.

The one showcased last year gets a slim LED daylight running light on the edges and Mahindra logo at the centre below the sculpted bonnet; bumper-integrated LED headlights, including high beam and low beam; a skid plate beneath the black bumper cladding; and a modern grill with a colliding pattern that creates an X effect at the centre.

Its sides have a lower body and squared-off wheel arch cladding, flush-type handles on doors, blacked-out pillars, silver-coloured roof-mounted rails, and double-toned alloy wheels; the rear features a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate, a roof-integrated spoiler, rugged bumper cladding with vertical-shaped reflectors, and a silver skid plate under the bumper.

As of now, the test mule of the Mahindra Vision X concept hasn’t been spotted testing on Indian roads. It is tough to say that the production model will be totally similar to the concept, as the carmaker will introduce it to the Indian market after many upgrades and improvements to ensure better practicality for all the occupants, including the driver.

Mahindra Vision X Patent

Last year, with the revealing Mahindra Vision X concept, they confirmed that it is built on the NU_IQ platform, which supports three different powertrains, including internal combustion engine, hybrid electric vehicle, and battery electric. It is certain that they will first introduce the model as the ICE vehicle with pure petrol and pure diesel.

After making debit as the internal combustion engine vehicle, the battery electric version will come, and then a hybrid electric is anticipated. There’s no confirmation when they will showcase the production model; we are expecting it to be unveiled at the 2027 Freedom_NU event, and the market launch will take place shortly after that.

The production model of the Vision X concept is set to measure around 3.9 metres, whose wheelbase is anticipated to be around 2.6 metres. Following the launch in the Indian market as an ICE vehicle, it will take on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon, and other SUVs that will be on sale in the sub-4-metre segment.

Set to come with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout, with a decent boot space behind the second row. The cabin of the production model based on the Vision X concept is anticipated to feature a double-tone interior theme. Before the driving seat, it will have a four-spoke, D-shape steering wheel with physical buttons for control.

The dashboard will integrate the air conditioning vents and a block of physical buttons just above the centre console for settings and functions. In the centre of the dashboard, it is likely to feature a horizontally orientated touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless smartphone connectivity, OTA software updates for connected car technology, and an AI-based voice assistant.

There’s no update on the ex-showroom price for this upcoming sub-4-metre sport utility vehicle from Mahindra Auto. Reportedly, it will make its position in the brand’s ICE vehicle lineup above the Mahindra XUV 3XO, which costs ex-showroom ₹7.79 lakh and ₹15.04 lakh, so we are expecting it to cost between ₹9.5 lakh and ₹16 lakh.
