Luxeed RX Presale Starts in August 2026: Premium EV to Rival Tesla Model Y

Luxeed, a premium electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery Automobile under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, is all set to start presales in August 2026 after previewing it in July 2026. They haven’t disclosed any confirmed date, but it is expected to take place in the second half of August 2026.

Notably, the market launch will take place in September 2026, and then delivery will start in October 2026. As of now, there’s no official confirmation regarding the price. Some reports suggest that it will cost between 300,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan, which translates to ₹42.39 lakh and ₹49.46 lakh (US$44,315 to US$51,700).

Following the launch, it will compete with the Tesla Model Y, the NIO ES6, the XPeng G9, the Zeekr 7X, and the Li Auto L6. The length is 5,020 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm; the width is 2,007 mm; and the height is 1,585 mm. It is set to make its debut with single-motor rear-wheel-drive and double-motor four-wheel-drive drivetrains.

  • The RWD variant gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, which is mated with the single-speed automatic transmission, which generates the power of 277 kW (372 hp).
  • The AWD trim gets the same PMSM with a one-speed automatic gearbox on the rear axle and an induction motor on the front axle, whose power output is 160 kW (215 hp). The combined power output is 437 kW (587 hp).

Notably, both variants are equipped with the Huawei next-generation Giant Whale Battery pack, although its capacity is still pending. The CLTC range is set to be different from one another for the single-motor and double-motor variants; it is certain that the RWD will run more than the AWD version. The top speed for the all-wheel drive is 251 kmph.

They haven’t disclosed the acceleration timing for 0 to 100 kmph. We are expecting that the double-motor trim will take around 5 seconds and the single-speed version above 7 seconds. Set to be based on the 800-volt electrical architecture supporting fast DC charging, although the charging output and time are still pending.

The RX from Luxeed is the fourth model after the S7 sedan, R7 coupe sport utility vehicle, and V9 multi-purpose vehicle. They are already on sale in the Chinese market; the first one is available for sale at a price of 239,800 yuan (₹33.86 lakh or US$35,320), the second at 259,800 yuan (₹36.68 lakh or US$38,270), and the third at 399,800 yuan (₹56.46 lakh or US$58,890).

This upcoming EV from Luxeed comes with Huawei’s next-generation intelligent driving system with four LIDAR sensors, which is very rare; none of its rivals come with it. It also features industry-first electromagnetic thermal-control die-casting technology. In the brand’s vehicle lineup, the RX sits above the R7 and below the V9.

Outside, it has integrated LED headlights and daylight running lights on the edges just below the hood. Below the number plate holder, it features horizontal air intakes, which help keep the motor and battery pack cool. Other notable features on the exterior are wheel arch cladding, lower body cladding, semi-hidden flush-type door handles, full-width LED headlights, a roof-integrated spoiler, and a horizontal-shaped reflector on the rear bumper.

Its interior features are still pending. The dashboard is all set to get a large floating HarmonyOS infotainment touchscreen at the center supporting the Huawei AI voice assistant; it is set to be integrated with the Huawei Sound premium audio system. May also get a wireless phone charging pad, premium leather upholstery for seats, and heating, ventilation, and electrically adjustable front seats.
