2026 Li L8 Arrives at Showrooms, Ahead of June 23 Launch

Li Auto, a Chinese premium vehicle manufacturer, is all set to launch the 2026 Li L8, a large luxury extended-range electric sport utility vehicle, on June 23, 2026, in two main variants that are Ultra and Levis. The manufacturer will reveal its price with the launch; we expect that it will introduce this EREV with a price ranging from 350,000 to 450,000 yuan, which translates to 49.13 to 63.16 lakh rupees.

From today, June 13, 2026, onwards, the car has started its arrival at the showroom across the country so interested buyers may have a driving experience. Notably, they are set to introduce it only with a five-person seating configuration with a 2-3 layout; they have planned to discontinue the six-seater in order to avoid internal cannibalisation of its elder sibling, the Li L9, the flagship model.

Compared to the outgoing model, the upcoming Li L8 is 50 mm longer and 5 mm wider, with no change in height. The 2026 model measures 5,135 mm, 2,000 mm, and 1,800 mm in length, width, and height, respectively. The carmaker claimed that with longer length, now rear-seating passengers get more ample legroom, and the trunk behind the second row features a large boot.

Both upcoming variants of the 2026 Li L80 are equipped with steer-by-wire, a feature where steering wheels send electronic signals to wheels to move; rear-wheel steering, which turns the rear wheel opposite to the front wheel when the car is running at the show speed for smooth turning even in compact areas, and at high speed it improves stability.

The Ultra variant is equipped with double-chamber air suspension, which makes the ride height adjustable electrically and provides better comfort on rough roads, and the Levis variant gets 800V active suspension, which continuously adjusts itself by monitoring road conditions and vehicle movement to ensure stability and comfort on all types of terrains.

The Levis variant also features electro-mechanical braking, where the electric motor itself applies the braking to the wheel. Notably, the Ultra gets one 1200 TOPS computing power Mach M100 AI chip, and the Level gets two. Both get roof-mounted Hesai ATL-P LiDAR, but the Levis get three additional LiDAR units to improve near-, mid-, and long-range perception.

Set to get a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol internal combustion engine under the hood and two electric motors, one on each axle, which may be permanent magnet synchronous motors, and a 72.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that gives the pure-electric CLTC range of 420 km, the combined range is 1,670 km. Notably, it supports a 5C DC charger, meaning the EREV will take a very short time to fully charge it.

Its specifications and features are still pending, but we expect that they will reveal it on June 15, 2026, on Livis Day, a software event, prior to the June 23, 2026, launch. The outgoing Li L8 was introduced in the Chinese market back in September 2022, and the delivery began in late 2022. Since then, Li Auto has delivered 290,047 units by 2025, including 15,482 in 2022, 117,990 in 2023, 77,623 in 2024, and 78,952 in 2025.

In 2026’s first five months, from January to May, they delivered only 5,719 units, including 1,173 in January, 1,046 in February, 1,622 in March, 1,457 in April, and 421 in May. Following the launch of 2026, the sales are anticipated to increase with good numbers. Following the launch, it is set to give tough competition to the ONVO L80, the IM LS8, the XPeng GX, and the AITO M8.
