Following the launch in China, it will compete with the Deepal SL03, the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 and the BYD Seal DM-i. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming PHEV.

On the sides, it has a fastback roofline, flush-type door handles, double-toned outside rear-view mirrors, blacked-out window surrounds, large alloy wheels, and a 2926 mm wheelbase. The rear features a large windscreen, an integrated active spoiler, and a sporty bumper with diffuser styling.

It comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 with ample legroom thanks to the long wheelbase. Features a boot space of 525 litres, helping in carrying three pieces of big luggage with 86% space efficiency. All seats feature nappa leather upholstery. Reportedly, the front seat will be electronically adjustable with a memory function and also features heating, ventilation and massage functions.

The cabin is available with three colour options that are grid yellow, shadow black, and wild brown. Inside, there’s a three-spoke steering wheel under which is a digital instrument cluster and connected dual 13-inch OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays; the one placed at the centre is the infotainment system and the other is the front seating passenger entertainment screen.

Set to be introduced with the 20-speaker Sennheiser audio system with the 7.1.4 surround-sound setup, whose peak output is 2,000W, which enhances the infotainment experience with immersive sound; 26 ambient-light zones with 256-colour customisation featuring 800 lighting elements across the cabin, which sync with the music; and a large panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade.

Other notable features are an intelligent voice assistant, connected car technology, OTA software updates, navigation systems, and smartphone connectivity. As the launch is pending, more details are yet to emerge; it is anticipated that it will have rear AC vents for heating and cooling of rear-seating occupants, a wireless charging pad, and multiple storage compartments, including door pockets and cup holders.

Built on the NordThor Hybrid 2.0 system and runs up to 1812 km.

Smart #6 EHD PHEV exterior design

It is based on the NordThor Hybrid 2.0 plug-in hybrid system featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood and a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle. Notably, the ICE’s power output is 120 kW (161 hp), and the PMSM’s is 200 kW (268 hp). Combinedly, they put out the power of 320 kW (429 hp).

Features a front-wheel drive drivetrain and a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 kmph is 6.7 seconds, and it can reach a maximum speed of 200 kmph, Smart claims. Set to be introduced with the different LFP battery packs that are 20 kWh and 41 kWh, giving an emission-free CLTC range of 135 and 185 km, respectively.

Reports say that it takes 15 minutes and 20 minutes for 30 to 80 per cent charging for a 41 kWh and 20 kWh battery pack, respectively. The combined range with the standard battery pack is yet to be revealed, but with the larger one, it runs up to 1810 km. When the battery is depleted, it gives a fuel efficiency of 4.75 to 4.79 litres per 100 km.
