The South Korean automakers Kia and Hyundai are both set to launch four models in the Indian market; the launch of all these models is expected to happen by early 2027. Among these four upcoming cars, one from each carmaker is an electric vehicle. Of the remaining two, Kia will introduce a hybrid vehicle, and Hyundai will come with an ICE vehicle, but also offer it with a CNG tank. Let’s have a closer look at each one.

The Syros EV from Kia Motors is expected to be introduced to the Indian market in August 2026, meaning its launch is a few days away. The carmaker hasn’t revealed its pricing, but it is expected to be introduced with a price ranging from 12 to 16 lakh rupees. It is going to be the second EV from the brand after the launch of the Carens Clavis EV.

Reportedly, it is built on the K1 platform and based on the Hyundai Inster EV. Expected to be offered with two LFP battery packs that are 42 kWh and 49 kWh, the larger one is expected to give a range of over 350 km. It will have a single motor on the front axle featuring a front-wheel drive configuration using a single-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai HE1i

The HE1i is an upcoming all-electric compact SUV from Hyundai Motors, which is internally codenamed ‘HE1i’. The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its name; as of now, its production is taking place at the Hyundai Motor India Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu. It is being built on E-GMP (K) architecture; interestingly, it will also be based on the Hyundai Inster EV, just like the Kia Syros EV.

In the Indian market, it is also expected to be introduced with two battery packs, including 42 kWh and 49 kWh. It will feature the same motor setup as Syros EV. The manufacturer will reveal its specifications and features with the launch. Reportedly, its debut in the Indian market will happen by late 2026; expectations are that it will start with an ex-showroom price of ₹12 lakh.

The engine is mounted with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The combined maximum power output is 272 hp, and peak torque is 367 Nm. Sold as both a seven-seater and a nine-seater, but the India launch will happen as a seven-seater in a 2-3-2 layout. Its mileage is 14 kmpl.
