MG 4X EV China Launch Soon: 610 km Range & Under 100,000 Yuan Price

MG Motors, which comes under the Chinese automaker SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) Motor, is all set to launch the MG 4X, a compact all-electric crossover, with a liquid-solid-state battery onboard in the near future for the Chinese market. As of May 7, 2026, it has already been received at the dealership, so there’s high speculation that its launch will happen in May 2026.

The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the pricing, but there’s high speculation that it will be available for sale with a starting price under 100,000 Chinese yuan, which translates to 12.78 lakh rupees. Once launched, it will compete with the BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), Geely Galaxy E5, and GAC Aion Y Plus, along with other upcoming Chinese EVs like the Jetour T2 PHEV. Before launch, almost everything about the car is made public. Let’s have a closer look.

Battery Packs, Range & Charging

Set to be offered with two battery packs that are a 53.9 kWh Liquid-Solid State Battery and a 64.2 kWh LFP Battery, whose range is 510 km and 610 km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. Details regarding its charging are yet to be revealed; it is reportedly expected to support DC chargers up to 100 KW, which may take 30 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging. May features an 11 kW AC charger that will take up to 9 hours for the full charge.

Motor Setup & Performance

The launch will happen with two options of single-motor setup on the rear axle featuring a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. The first option is TZ180XS0951 PMSM, manufactured by the UAES (a SAIC-Bosch joint venture), whose power output is 168 hp and peak torque is 250 Nm; and the second option is TZ204XS1351 PMSM, manufactured by SAIC-owned Huayu Automotive, which generates the power of 201 hp and peak torque of 310 Nm.

The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is yet to be revealed; it is likely that if the car is equipped with a standard-power motor, it will take around 8-9 seconds, but with a strong-power motor, only 6-7 seconds. The expected top speed with either battery pack or motor setup is expected to be 160 km/h.
