Sierra EV to BYD’s 1,200km PHEV: 5 SUVs Worth Waiting for in H2 2026

In the second half of 2026, the Indian market will see the launch of five sport utility vehicle models. They are the Tata Sierra EV, the Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV, the BYD Seal U DM-i, the Renault Duster Hybrid, and the Chery Jetour T2. Take a closer look at each of the upcoming SUVs.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors will launch the Tata Sierra EV on June 30, 2026, with the ex-showroom price between ₹19.5 lakh and ₹26.5 lakh. They will introduce the model in the Indian market with two drivetrain configurations that are rear-wheel drive and quad-wheel drive, and two battery pack configurations.

Inside the cabin, there will be a large touchscreen infotainment system in the center and an entertainment screen before the co-passenger seat. Both front seats are expected to be ventilated and powered and may also feature double-zone automatic climate control.

Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV

The JWS MG Motor India will unveil a plug-in electric sport utility vehicle on July 16, 2026, for the Indian market; it is set to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV, already available for sale in China. Its launch may happen in June 2026 with the starting ex-showroom price of ₹22 lakh.

It is a seven-seater SUV with a seating capacity of 7 people in a 2-3-2 layout; the dashboard will get an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster before the driving seat and a 12.8-inch infotainment system at the center of the dashboard. It may get a 20.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and give an emission-free range of 100 km.

BYD Seal U DM-i

Build Your Dream’s Indian subsidiary, BYD Indian, has already made an announcement that they will launch the BYD Seal U DM-i in late 2026 with an ex-showroom price between ₹45 lakh and ₹60 lakh. It is set to come with a 200 km pure-electric range.

Internally, it is already sold as the BYD Sealion with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrains. The length, width, and height are 4,775 mm, 1,890 mm, and 1,670 mm, respectively. The cabin will get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system.

Renault Duster Hybrid

Renault India is most likely to launch the Renault Duster Hybrid in November 2026 with the ex-showroom price between ₹15 lakh and ₹22 lakh. Under the hood, it will get a 1.8-liter petrol engine and dual electric motor system with an 8-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, featuring a front-wheel-drive drivetrain.

On the dashboard, it will feature a digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel and an infotainment system at the center of the dashboard. The screen will run on an Android-based operating system and features OTA updates, connected features, and wireless multi-device connectivity via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth.

Chery Jetour T2

Chery Jetour T2

The Chery Jetour T2 will make its Indian debut under the JSW-Chery banner; the Chinese automaker is expected to launch it in November 2026, during the festive season. It is available with the ex-showroom price of ₹30 lakh to ₹45 lakh. The length, width, and height are 4,785 mm, 1,880 mm, and 2,006 mm, respectively.

Set to get a 1.5-liter turbocharged GDI petrol engine and electronic motor with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission on the front axle featuring a FWD drivetrain, whose combined power output is 380 hp and 610 Nm. The dashboard gets a 15.6-inch floating infotainment system at the center and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
