3 Most Awaited Affordable Cars Launching in India in Late 2026
In the next few months, India is all set to launch many cars with different powertrains, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid electric, hybrid electric, and internal combustion engine, and distinct pricing from affordable to premium. Among them, the three most awaited affordable cars in India in 2026 are the Volkswagen Tera, the VinFast VF 3, and the Maruti Brezza Facelift. Let’s have a closer look at each.
Volkswagen Tera

The subcompact crossover sport utility vehicle Volkswagen Tera is expected to be introduced in the Indian market during the festive season, in late October 2026; it is anticipated to be available with an ex-showroom price ranging from 8 to 15 lakh rupees. It is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 with decent boot space.
It is expected to be introduced under the length of 4 meters, so we can anticipate that its wheelbase will be around 2.5 meters. Reportedly, it will come with a 988cc 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering the power of 114 bhp and 178 Nm, helping to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in under 5 seconds.
Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and transmission options are likely to be a six-speed torque converter automatic and six-speed manual. The maximum speed is anticipated to be around 175 kmph, and the fuel efficiency for city driving and highway cruising may be 15 to 18 kmpl depending on the gearbox configuration.
VinFast VF 3

The all-electric micro sport utility vehicle, the VinFast VF 3, is set to be introduced in the Indian market with a price range from 7.5 to 10 lakh rupees. Reportedly, the Vietnamese carmaker may introduce it in India by November 2026. Comes with a three-door and four-person seating configuration with a boot space of 36 liters that can be expanded up to 285 liters by folding the rear seat.
In terms of length, width, height, wheelbase, and ground clearance, it measures 3,190 mm, 1,679 mm, 1,652 mm, 2,075 mm, and 191 mm, respectively. Equipped with an 18.64 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, whose range of 215 km on the NEDC cycle. It supports a DC charger up to 30 kW, which takes 36 minutes for 10-70% charging.
Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, which generates the maximum power of 42.9 bhp and peak torque of 100 Nm. Notably, to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h, it takes 5 seconds, and its maximum speed is 100 km/h. Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and its transmission is single-speed automatic.
Maruti Brezza Facelift

The compact sport utility vehicle Maruti Brezza Facelift will be introduced in the Indian market by December 2026; it is highly anticipated to be available with an ex-showroom price between 8.5 and 16 lakh. The carmaker is set to launch it with many upgrades on the exterior and interior; however, they haven’t yet revealed what changes they are making.
Reportedly, there will be no change in its size. It will measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,500 mm, and ground clearance is 198 mm. Set to be introduced as a five-seater with a configuration of 2-3, which will have a cargo space of 328 liters, the same as the outgoing model available for sale.
Notably, it may also come with a 1.0L Boosterjet 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a transmission option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed TC automatic, besides a 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine that is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed TC automatic. The power output and peak torque of the former are 99 bhp and 147.6 Nm, respectively, but the latter makes 101.6 bhp and 139 Nm.
