In a previous report we covered that the successor of Tata Tigor is coming as Tata Aeris. Earlier it was in the news that the Tata Tigor facelift will have major exterior design upgrades and feature upgrades inside the cabin. Instead of introducing a facelift, the carmaker has planned to rename the nameplate.
The existing compact sedan Tata Tigor will be discontinued with the launch of the Tata Aeris. On September 21, 2026, Tata.Cars released the first teaser of the upcoming one; the video shows a portion of the front end and rear quarter also.
Tata Aeris first teaser out.
The manufacturer teased Tata Aeris by releasing a video; they have released the first teaser just four days prior to the launch. The teaser reveals that it will have an integrated LED headlight setup; the main headlamps are placed below the slim daylight running light for better road illumination and daytime visibility on the road.
Other details that the teaser reveals for its exterior are a black bumper integrating a fog lamp at the outer edge to enhance visibility during the bad weather. Another frame in the video also shows the rear quarter, which has a fuel-filler flap, boot-side body work, and a through-type tail lamp. Apart from these details, all other details remain concealed.
Note that these details that we get to know through the teaser are similar to what we see on the patent image for the Tata Tigor facelift. With the release of the teaser video, it is now clear that the upcoming Tata Aeris will have a design similar to the model that was planned to be introduced to the Indian market as the Tata Tigor facelift.

Launch and powertrain.
It is still uncertain that Tata.Cars will launch the Tata Aires on September 25, 2026, with a petrol powertrain, or also with CNG and electric. Recent reports suggest the debut of the nameplate as a petrol and CNG version and an electric one in the near future. It is yet to be seen with which powertrain it will go on sale.
Things regarding the powertrain for petrol and CNG are confirmed, but there’s uncertainty regarding the electric one. The petrol and CNG versions are set to get a 1,199 cc, 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated, petrol-powered internal combustion engine.
The 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT are set to be available for both of these powertrains. The petrol version will deliver 86 PS and 113 Nm, but the CNG will only deliver 76 PS and 97 Nm. The drivetrain for the petrol and CNG will be front-wheel drive.
Reports suggest that the electric version will come with two lithium-ion battery packs; the one of 30 kWh already offered with the Tata Tigor may be retained as a standard range, and a larger battery pack may introduce long range.
It is certain that this car with an electric powertrain will have a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a one-speed automatic gearbox on the front axle featuring an FWD drivetrain; the power output and peak torque will vary depending on the battery pack.
Rivals and price.
The upcoming Tata Aeris is a compact sedan whose CNG and petrol versions will compete with the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The ex-showroom price will be announced by Tata.Cars at the launch event, they are expected to cost from ₹6 lakh up to ₹11 lakh.
The electric version of the Tata Aeris will be positioned against the MG Comet EV and the Citroen eC3; the ex-showroom price for the same is expected to be between ₹10 lakh and ₹14 lakh.
