The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean carmaker started the booking process for the Hyundai Bayon, releasing posters that also reveal that the car is going to position itself in the Indian market as an ‘Intelligent Utility Vehicle’ competing with the Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Hyder, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

The upcoming mid-size sport utility vehicle, the Hyundai Bayon, is confirmed to measure 4.2 meters in length. Compared to the Tata Nexon, it is 205 mm longer but 112 mm, 160 mm, 165 mm, and 260 mm shorter than the Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris, respectively.
It underpins the Global K Enhanced Platform, which is also known as the K3 platform. The teaser image confirms that this upcoming car will have a sculpted bonnet for a tougher appearance, an H-Edge LED daylight running light for a modern lighting signature, geometric wheel arches for SUV characteristics, and bridge-type roof rails for mounting luggage.
Other confirmed details for its exterior are 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 tires, wrap-around door cladding for the side-body protection, black-outed pillars for the floating roof effect, pull-type door handles for enhanced door opening practicality, and an A-pillar mounted outside the rear view mirror that will be powered and also integrates side indicators.

Hyundai Motor Indian has confirmed that the upcoming Bayon mid-size SUV will come with a petrol-powered internal combustion engine with gearbox options of manual and intelligent variable transmission. The South Korean automobile manufacturer says that this setup is aimed at refinement, responsiveness, and fuel efficiency.
Reports suggest the ICE to be a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated with clarity on a manual gearbox that it would be a six-speed setup. Note that the carmaker refers to ‘Continuously Variable Transmission’ as the IVT, so don’t get confused regarding it. Reports also claim that the ICE will crank 115 PS power and 144 Nm torque.
Launch and price expectations.
Many reports suggest that the upcoming Hyundai Bayon will go on sale in the Indian market around the 2026 festive season, but there’s no confirmation of that.
