Suzuki Burgman 150 Maxi Scooter Launched - 14.2 bhp, 115 km/h Top Speed

The Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation has introduced a brand-new maxi scooter in Colombia under the 150cc segment; it is named the Suzuki Burgman 15, positioned between its siblings, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and the Suzuki Burgman 200.

Soon, they will introduce it to other markets; however, an Indian launch is very unlikely, but some sources reported that they may introduce it as the rival of the TVS Ntorq 150. Its secondary rivals in India are the Yamaha Aerox 155, the Aprilia SXR 160, and the Hero Xoom 160.

It is powered by a 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine bolted with the continuously variable transmission, whose maximum power output is 14.2 bhp, equivalent to 14.4 PS and 10.6 kW, and peak torque is 14.2 Nm, which translates to 10.5 lb-ft.

If the India launch happens, it will come with the same powertrain; its 0 to 60 km/h acceleration timing is likely to be under 7 seconds, and its top speed is around 115 km. The expected mileage is 38-42 kmpl, 42-25 kmpl, and 40-43 kmpl for city, highway, and mix, respectively.

With the average fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl, it is highly anticipated to give a range of 320 km, as the fuel tank capacity is 8 litres. Dimensionally, the Suzuki Burgman 15 is a little larger in size (length, width and height) compared to the Suzuki Burgman Street 125.

It comes with a seat height of 760 mm, which gives a comfortable riding position to a rider under the height of 165 mm (5’5″) and makes the daily commuting and easy stop-and-go riding convenient. The kerb weight is 145 kg, a little higher than the Suzuki Burgman Street 125, but it provides better stability.

It gets a single-piece seat with good-quality material for better comfort of rider and pillion; under the same, there’s a boot space of 25 litres that helps in carrying small items. Reportedly, its wheelbase is 1,335 mm to ensure better stability at high speed, and ground clearance is 160 mm, good enough to pass the potholes.

Gets a fully digital TFT instrument cluster with the modern user interface, which displays a speedometer, fuel gauge, trip meters, clock, notifications and navigation prompts. Also supports smartphone connectivity, giving call and SMS alerts. For phone charging, it has a Type-C USB port.

On the front, it gets LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs in the split setup, an aggressive stance, a black-tinted windscreen, and a chunky front apron; in profile, it gets a long stepped seat, a relaxed floorboard layout, flowing body panels, a 14-inch alloy wheel, and a muscular side fairing; and the rear features LED tail lamps and LED indicators, a grab rail, and a wide tail section.

It is built on a central spine frame whose front suspension is telescopic forks that ensure better bump absorption and give a stable steering feel; the rear is twin shock absorbers, giving better pillion support. The front and rear wheel braking is managed by disc and drum, respectively; it also features dual-channel ABS, which ensures safe braking.

Still, there are no words from the manufacturer as to whether they will introduce it to the Indian market or not. If they planned to do so, then we may see its launch in the next few weeks, with the ex-showroom price more than the Suzuki Burgman Street 125’s, which may cost around 1.35 lakh rupees.
