Renault Kwid 2026 Launched: Climber Gets Cheaper by ₹32,000, From ₹4.53L

On July 3, 2026, the French automobile manufacturer officially launched the 2026 Renault Kwid in two variants that are Evolution and Climber, with the ex-showroom price ranging from ₹4.53 lakh to ₹5.61 lakh. Both variants are available with two different transmission options: a five-speed manual and a five-speed automated manual.

The evaluation variant with a manual and automated manual gearbox is available with the ex-showroom price of ₹4.53 lakh and ₹4.90 lakh, respectively, and the Climber with manual transmission costs ₹5.15 lakh, but with automated manual ₹5.61 lakh. CNG options are also available, but for them an additional payment of ₹70,450 is required.

The carmaker has discontinued the Authentic and Techno that were earlier available; compared to the previous starting ex-showroom price, the new one costs ₹22,000 more. However, the price for the Evaluation variant is reduced by up to ₹14,000 and for the Climber, up to ₹32,000.

On the side, it gets a crossover-inspired silhouette, 14-inch double-tone steel wheels, pronounced wheel arch cladding, black mechanical door handles for better practicality, and a front door-mounted double-toned outside rear view mirror with integrated blinkers.

The back boasts silver-finished ‘KWID’ lettering and a Renault logo on the tailgate for an uncluttered rear view, through-type large halogen taillamps, black bumper cladding with silver skid plate styling to enhance the rear view, and a corner-integrated reflector just above the bumper.

The length, width, and height are 3,731 mm, 1,579 mm, and 1,474 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is 2,422 mm, and ground clearance is 184 mm. It comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with a boot space of 279 liters that helps in carrying small luggage conventionally.

Inside, it gets a three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons, including for audio control, the same as the one that we were in the Kiger, and even its gear lever is inspired by its sibling. It has a dual-tone black and grey dashboard and features black fabric seat upholstery with yellow accents. Under the steering wheel, it has a semi-digital instrument cluster that shows all driving data.

The center of the dashboard is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless connectivity via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth. It also features connected car technology. Other notable features are manual air conditioning for the front row, powered windows, rear sensors, and a compass for parking.

For safety, it gets up to six airbags that play a crucial role in saving lives in case of an accident, a tire pressure monitoring system that alerts you whenever the tire pressure goes down, a seat belt reminder, Hill Start Assist, a USB port for phone charging, and an anti-locking braking system with electronic braking distribution to help with safe braking.

Built on the CMF-A platform featuring electric power steering and a front-wheel drivetrain, its front and rear suspension are MacPherson struts with coil springs and a twist beam with coil springs. The front brakes are disc, but the rear gets drums. Under the hood, it gets a 999 cc, a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine, which features a multi-point fuel injection (MPI) system.

The ICE generates the power of 69 hp and a peak torque of 92.5 Nm. To sprint from 0 to 60 kmph, it takes under 8 and 9 seconds with manual and automated manual gearboxes, respectively, and it can reach a maximum speed of 155 kmph with both transmission options, as per the manufacturer’s claims. The ARAI-certified mileage is 21.46 km/l and 22.30 km/l for MT and AMT, respectively.
