Renault Bridger Sub-4m SUV Patented in India – 2027 Production Confirmed
The French automobile manufacturer has patented Renault Bridger, a sub-4-metre lifestyle 5-door off-roader sport utility vehicle, in India. The carmaker revealed its concept during Renault Group’s “futuREady” mid-term strategy presentation in Paris, France on March 10, 2026, compared to the same, the patented version is slightly revised. Let’s have a closer look at its design.
Upfront, the patented version has Signature C-shaped LED daylight running lights with the headlight housing and a rugged bumper with bull-bar-inspired styling, the same as the concept one; replacing the clamshell bonnet, it gets a simple one, and the illuminated “RENAULT” logo that we get to see in the concept is now removed.
On the sides, it has retained a boxy silhouette, short overhangs, upright greenhouse, strong shoulder lines, flared wheel arches, and hidden handles on C-pillars for the rear door; and the things that changed from the concept include simple alloy wheel design and no roof-mounted rails and no sunroof.
The rear has a side-hinged tailgate with flat styling, an external spare wheel, a vertical tail lamp in a two-piece lighting structure, and a tugged bumper, but the patent version has a redesigned bumper, illuminated branding seen on the concept has been removed, and even the handle for the tailgate is repositioned.

It is highly expected that the production version will have the same design as the patent. Notably, the carmaker has officially confirmed that its production will take place in India during 2027, most likely in Chennai. It is expected that its launch in India may happen in the first quarter of 2026, and it will be exported to Africa, the Middle East and other developing markets.
In India, it will be produced as an internal combustion engine car, and after that it may also be introduced as an electric vehicle; many reports are saying that, however, the manufacturer hasn’t confirmed it. Its ICE variant is expected to be available with the ex-showroom price starting from 7 lakh rupees and going up to 14 lakh rupees.
In terms of dimensions, its length is expected to be around 3.9 metres with the wheelbase of 2.6 metres. It is expected that its ground clearance would be around 220 mm, so it meets the needs of an off-road SUV. It is expected to be equipped with 18-inch all-terrain types, for it can run even on rough terrain easily.
All set to be introduced with a seating capacity of five people in the traditional layout of 2-3, notably, behind the rear, there will be a boot space of around 400 litres which helps in carrying the big luggage easily. The interior is expected to be equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard in floating type and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster before the driver’s seat.
The front seats are expected to be both ventilated and powered and also feature a level 2 advanced driving assistant system and a 360° camera on the top-end variants. Other features expected are a multi-storage compartment, a wireless charging pad, six airbags, an 8-speaker sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the OTA software updates.
It is set to be built on RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) with an ICE powertrain; it may get a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under the hood, whose power output may be around 115 bhp and 190 Nm. Its drivetrain is expected to be all-wheel drive, and transmission options are likely to be 6-speed manual and CVT automatic.
Some reports even say that an FWD (front-wheel drive) configuration car will also be available at low cost, which may be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine whose maximum power output is likely to be 100 bhp and peak torque around 160 Nm. It may also be offered with the same gearbox options as the 1.2-litre petrol engine.
