Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung: 646 HP V8, 170 kg Lighter, Just 30 Units

Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz, officially unveiled Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, an ultra-limited, track-focused performance version of the CLE 53. The company says that only 30 units are set to be built, and all of them are already sold.

From the brand, this vehicle is the second model under the Mythos series; the existing one is PureSpeed. Despite being based on CLE 646, not only the powertrain but also the suspension, body and interior, this car gets extensive upgrades.

The luxury German automotive maker has officially confirmed that it will be hand-built at the Affalterbach, Germany. Let’s have a closer look at this vehicle.

Powertrain and performance.

Get a Mercedes-AMG M177 Evo 3,982cc 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol-powered internal combustion engine that is mated with the nine-speed AMG Speedshift transmission. Features a flat-plane crankshaft, a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and a titanium high-performance exhaust that is developed with Akrapovič.

Its internal combustion engine delivers 646 hp power at 6,000 to 6,250 rpm with a 341 hp per tonne power-to-weight ratio and 850 Nm torque with 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. The claimed top speed is 310 kmph. To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, it takes 3.9 seconds, and it reaches the speed up to 200 kmph in just 11.9 seconds.

Kerb weight, size, and space.

The kerb weight of the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is 1,895 kg, which is 170 kg less than the CLE 53. Carbon-fibre body panels, polycarbonate rear glass, and a lighter 12-volt battery are among the changes which contribute to reducing its curb weight. This car sits on 20-inch forged alloy steel with 305/30 ZR20 front tyres and 335/30 ZR20 rear.

Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung rear look

The dimensions in terms of length, width and height are 4,949 mm, 1,987 mm and 1,420 mm, respectively, whose wheelbase measures 2,875 mm. Compared to the model on which it is based, this vehicle is 99 mm longer with a 10 mm wheelbase, 52 mm wider, and 16 mm lower.

Exterior and interior highlights.

The exterior has extensive carbon-fibre work, including front fenders, bonnet, roof, side sills, rear apron and boot lid. A large adjustable wing is clearly visible at the rear, and the manually adjustable front diffuser comes with the Street and Race settings. Other exterior feature highlights are the adjustable front diffuser and the dedicated aerodynamic package.

Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung Cabin

Its cabin has only two seats, one for driver and another for co-passenger; the rear seats that we get to see on CLE 53 are removed. Other highlights inside the cabin are lightweight AMG bucket seats, carbon-fibre door panels, a roll bar behind the seats, six-point racing harnesses as optional, and a flat-bottom AMG Performance steering wheel with DINAMICA microfibre covering.

Platform, suspension, and braking.

Built on the Mercedes-Benz CLE platform with two doors and two seats. The front and rear suspension is steel coilover suspension with four-way adjustable dampers that is co-developed by KW. The suspension is designed specifically for high-performance and track driving.

The suspension setup enables 22 mm front ride height adjustment and 16 mm rear. All its wheels have carbon-ceramic brakes that are ventilated and perforated; the front gets 420 mm discs with six-piston callipers, and the rear features 360 mm discs with single-piston callipers for performance braking.

Launch date and price.

With September 10, 2026, unveiling, all details for the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung have emerged. Many reports suggest that they will announce the price in the near future and start the delivery for all 30 units simultaneously.

As of now, it is tough to say anything about its launch date and price. A report confirms that it will be positioned above the PureSpeed in the Mythos series, so it is certain that it will be costlier than the existing model in the lineup.
