Mahindra Auto has already confirmed that they will launch the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq on August 15, 2026, and now various reports suggest that the debut of the Mahindra Thar facelift, a three-door sport utility vehicle, will also take place on the same day. Notably, the official confirmation regarding its launch in the Indian market is still pending.
What’s new, expected?
The facelift of the Mahindra Thar will come with many cosmetic changes and upgrades. Outside, it will get the Thar ROXX-inspired design with C-shaped LED headlights enhancing its modern appearance and making it appealing, and new alloy wheels to improve the road presence. Other feature upgrades, which the sporty exterior may see, are a revised front grille and tweaked front and rear bumpers.
The cabin is expected to have a large touchscreen infotainment system to enhance the interior aesthetic. The dashboard and window trims and seat upholstery are set to be upgraded with soft-touch material to enhance premiumness. The windows are likely to be powered, whose switch may be available on the doors to enhance practicality.
Spied Multiple Times
The upcoming Thar facelift has been spied multiple times on public roads wearing camouflage. When it was recently spied, we reported the same; the details that emerged after the latest spy shot are that it will have five-spoke alloy. Previous spotting has already confirmed the front-end lighting is similar to the five-door Thar ROXX SUV.
It has been spotted undergoing testing several times, but no spy shots revealing its interior have surfaced so far. The details regarding its interior upgrades will emerge with the launch of the model, which is just a few days away. In the most recent spy shots, we do not see any camouflage on the sides, suggesting that there are no in-profile changes; they will be only at the front end and the rear.
Same Size & Space
No changes in size are anticipated for the Thar facelift. The length, width, and height are set to remain 3,985 mm, 1,820 mm, and 1,855 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase will remain 2,450 mm, and ground clearance is set to 226 mm. Four seats are set to be continued in a two-two layout; the cargo capacity behind the second row is set to remain 219 liters, which can be expanded to 644 liters.
ICE Options
The powertrain and performance for the Thar facelift are set to remain the same as the outgoing model. Currently, it is offered with three ICE options, which are 2.0L mStallion TGDi turbo, 2.2L mHawk turbo, and 1.5L turbo-diesel. Refer to listed points to check the performance of each one.
- 2.0L mStallion TGDi turbo: Offered with two transmission options, which are six-speed manual and automatic. The power output is 152 hp, and peak torque is 300 Nm with MT and 320 Nm with AT, and drivetrain options are rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
- 2.2L mHawk turbo: Transmission options are the same as the 2.0L mStallion TGDi turbo. It delivers a maximum power of 132 hp and peak torque of 300 Nm. Its drivetrain option is only all-wheel drive.
- 1.5L turbo-diesel: The transmission option is six-speed manual, and the drivetrain is rear-wheel drive. It generates the power of 119 hp and torque of 300 Nm.
New ex-sh. Prices
The Thar facelift is set to be a little costlier than the outgoing model. Notably, the existing one is available with an ex-showroom price starting from ₹10.32 lakh and going up to ₹18.00 lakh. So we are expecting that the upcoming one will cost between ₹11 lakh and ₹19 lakh, depending on the variant.
