Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera Unveiled: 77.5 hp in Full Blacked-Out Trim

The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the 2026 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera on May 15, 2026, which comes with the new black-and-red styling featuring a full “Nera” blacked-out theme with red wheels and a trellis frame, which makes its stealthier appearance even more aggressive compared to the standard one.

Now the bike comes with the Ducati Quick Shift as standard, which features clutchless upshifts and downshifts, which helps in faster gear changes and smoother acceleration. As standard, it also features homologated Termignoni silencers, which produce a richer exhaust sound, with the black-finished end caps and red detailing.

It also features some cosmetic changes that include darker visual treatment, special graphics, premium finish touches and factory-installed accessories. Its arrival at the dealerships will take place in June 2026 in European countries; the manufacturer hasn’t confirmed anything about its launch in India. Reports say that it is very unlikely that its launch will happen.

Besides the above-mentioned upgrades, no change is reported in this new model-introduced variant, which means the bike comes with the same powertrain and performance that are offered with the standard one. Notably, its standard variant is already available for sale in India. Let’s have a closer look at its specifications and features.

It is powered by a 659cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder Superquadro Mono electronic fuel injection engine that is bolted with the 6-speed manual gearbox in the pattern of 1-down and 5-up. The engine generates the power of 77.5 hp at 9,750 rpm and a peak torque of 63 Nm at 8,000 rpm, which helps it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 220 km/h.

While this Ducati motor is a high-performance premium engine, riders looking for an alternative big-bore single-cylinder motorcycle can also check out the newly arrived BSA Scrambler 650.

The engine has 4 valves with a desmodromic valve timing system; its bore and stroke are 116 mm × 62.4 mm, and the compression ratio is 13.1:1. Notably, it has a slipper clutch and features chain drive. It comes with the ARAI-certified mileage of 20.8 km/l, and with a 12-litre fuel tank. It runs up to 249.8 km. As per the company’s claim, the real-world range may be around 220-225 km.

The bike is built on a steel trellis frame, whose front suspension is fully adjustable USD forks, and the rear is an adjustable monoshock. Both wheels are alloy and 17-inch in size in terms of diameter; the front wheel gets a 120-section tyre and the rear features a 160-section tyre. Braking for both wheels is managed; it also features dual-channel cornering ABS and a slide-by-brake function. Its wheelbase is 1,443 mm, and its ground clearance is 235 mm.

It comes with a seat height of 904 mm, giving a comfortable riding position for taller riders such as 5’11” and above, and a kerb weight of 151 kg without fuel; with the full tank, it is 159 kg, which is not too high and can be easily handled by confident riders. Features four driving modes that include Sport for maximum performance, Urban for balanced riding, Road for soft throttle response and Wet for better road grip in case of slippery conditions.

Dimensionally, it is 2,100 mm longer, 890 mm wider and 1,155 mm higher. It features an LED headlamp in a dual “C” lighting signature, an LED tail lamp, and LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). It gets a 3.8-inch LCD display with IBN (Improved Black Nematic) technology, which shows a digital speedometer, digital tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter and clock.
