On August 21, 2026, BMW India finally launched the X1 LWB, the long-wheelbase version of the X1 compact luxury sport utility vehicle, in the Indian market in a single variant that is sDrive18Li with the ex-showroom price of ₹49.90 lakh. In terms of length, width, and height, it measures 4,616 mm, 1,845 mm, and 1,641 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,800 mm, and ground clearance is 205 mm.
It is powered by a 1,499 cc 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine, which delivers the power up to 156 hp and peak torque of 230 Nm. Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and transmission is 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, it takes 9.58 seconds and it can reach a maximum speed of 215 kmph.
Its ARAI-certified mileage is 15.5 kmpl. With a fuel tank of 54 litres, it can run up to 837 km without any refuelling stops. The claimed range is for ideal conditions with 100% petrol; on the Indian road, the real-world range is set to vary depending on driving condition and fuel type. As of now, there’s no data available on the real-world range in India since its launch happened recently.
Notably, the X1 LWB is 116 mm longer with a 108 mm wheelbase to enhance the legroom for the second two occupants. Drivers who dropped the planning of making a purchase for the standard X1 because of second-row compactness may reconsider their decision as the market launch for the X1 LWB has finally happened. The width remains the same, and the height is just reduced by 1 mm.
With the increase of wheelbase, now even boot space is expanded by 64 litres. The standard X1 has a cargo capacity of 476 litres, but the X1 LWB has 540, which can easily accommodate up to 3 big pieces of luggage and 2 small. The folding of rear seats is also applicable in 40:20:40, which helps with extending the cargo capacity when needed. The cargo space after folding second-row seats is still pending.
Compared to the standard X1, now seats are now 15 mm longer, giving tight support, and cushioning has been enhanced for more comfortable seating. 18-inch wheels are standard; besides that, you don’t have any additional options. The ground clearance and the lowest point of a vehicle’s underbody are 205 mm, the same as the standard model; it’s the ideal ride height for driving on Indian roads.
In terms of design, the X1 LWB is similar to the standard, which gets peeled-back headlamps, a kidney grille, side air curtains, semi-hidden flush-type handles for side doors, double-toned fifteen-spoke alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars, flared wheel arches, ORVMs on the A-pillar integrating slim LED blinkers, edgy through-type LED taillamps, a roof-integrated spoiler, and a diffuser-style rear bumper.
Inside, it has a round-shaped, four-spoke steering wheel with a BMW logo and physical buttons on the spokes placed vertically. Behind the steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display is clearly visible, where you can see all the driving data. The dashboard’s centre features a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, slightly tilted towards the driver seats, and it also supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Features automatic climate control with dedicated rear AC vents to keep rear-seating occupants cool. Other features that this SUV gets are a 360-degree camera to get a surround view on the infotainment display, electrically powered front seats to set the most comfortable and convenient seating position, eight airbags to ensure safety during a collision, and ventilated discs on the front and solid on the rear for powerful and stable braking.
