Ampere, the Indian electric two-wheeler brand owned by Greaves Electric Mobility, showcased Ampere Xyber, an upcoming electric motorcycle concept, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 on January 17, 2025. Almost 1.5 years later, the company has patented this concept. The image of the same floating on the internet shows that the patent design is quite similar to the concept.
By patenting this upcoming electric motorcycle, they have not only protected the design for the Indian market but also hinted that they are working on its production. They haven’t confirmed any launch date for the electric bike, but reports suggest it will happen somewhere in 2027.
How is the design of this upcoming Ampere electric bike?
The Ampere Xyber is the name used for the concept version; it is still uncertain that they will launch it to the market with the name. The patent image has already given a rough idea about this upcoming e-motorcycle. It is set to have angular and sharp front styling with an aggressive LED headlamp and futuristic wing-inspired LED daylight running light giving the modern touch.
Looking at the sides, it is clearly visible that it will have muscular tank-like body panels giving it the appearance of an ICE-powered motorcycle. Other highlights are split-seat setup with grab rail at the end, Y-shaped six-spoke alloy wheels with disc brake with the double-channel ABS, centrally mounted PMSM with chain-drive final drive, and USD forks at the front and Momoshok at the rear.
Other things that we get to know about the parent image are the wheel-positioned handlebar that mounts the rearview mirror. The footpegs for the ride and pillion are around the center and on the rear mudguard, respectively, for leg support and riding/seating comfortability. Its rear section also has a modern look with an LED taillight behind the seat and a side indicator on the fender.

When invited to the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi, Ampere said that its production version gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor that would deliver 10 kW of power, be able to reach the maximum speed of 100 km/h, and give a range of up to 200 km on the Indian Driving Cycle. The claimed range is for certain ideal conditions; real-world may be around 160 km.
The use of the lithium-ion battery is certain, but the capacity of the same is still pending. The company has officially confirmed that this upcoming electric motorcycle will support both AC and DC chargers for home charging convenience and fast charging at the charging point, respectively. The dimensions are still pending, but the report confirms that this e-bike will run on 17-inch alloy wheels.

In India, Ampere sells four two-wheeler models, the Ampere Nexus EX+, Ampere Magnus G Max, Ampere Magnus Neo, and Ampere Reo Vyb; they all are scooters. The upcoming Ampere Xyber production version is set to be the first motorcycle from the company that will compete with Oben Rorr, Ola Roadster X, and Matter Aera.
In 2026, between January and July, Ampere has sold 53,662 units, including 5,337, 4,726, 7,965, 6,884, 7,695, 10,930, and 10,125 in January, February, March, April, May, June, and July, respectively. On a month-on-month basis, they registered growth of 42.04%, 11.78%, and 68.61% in June, May, and March, respectively; and degrowth of -11.49%, -13.57%, and -7.37% in February, April, and July, respectively.
