The VinFast VF7, a mid-size all-electric SUV from the Vietnamese automobile manufacturer VinFast, is available for sale in the Indian market from September 6, 2025. Recently, the carmaker has increased the price up to ₹1.13 lakh; now it costs ex-showroom between ₹22.99 lakh and ₹28.09 lakh. They have increased the price to cover the increased production cost, as per the media reports; words from the manufacturer are yet to come.
This all-electric SUV is one among the EVs that VinFast offers in India. Its main rivals are the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, BYD Atto 3, Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is an electric car that comes with two different LFP battery packs, giving the driver options to choose between, and also two different drivetrains are offered. With the standard battery pack, it features FWD, but with the large one, the AWD option is also available.
In the Indian market, it is available for sale in a total of five variants. They are Earth, Wind, Wind Infinity, Sky, and Sky Infinity. The first one is available with a 59.6 kWh battery pack, and the last four with a 70 kWh unit. Also note that the first three variants are those whose drivetrain is front-wheel-drive, and the last two feature all-wheel-drive. Depending on the battery pack and variant, the performance varies. All FWDs are single-motor variants, which get a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a one-speed automatic gearbox at the front axle; and AWDs get a PMSM with a single-speed automatic transmission at the rear and an induction motor on the front axle. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 9.5 seconds for the first one, 8.5 seconds for the second and third, and 5.8 seconds for the last two.
The claimed range from 438 km to 510 km is under MIDC conditions. The real world is affected by various factors such as weather conditions, road type, driving style and much more. For the mixed driving conditions, a decrease of up to 15% is certain from the claim; the highway cruising gives better range than the city driving.
The FWD variant with a standard battery pack supports a DC charger up to 100 kW, which takes 24 minutes for 10-70% charging, but the FWD and AWD variants with large battery packs do a maximum of 110 kW, which takes 28 minutes, 4 minutes more. Dimensionally, they are the same. Their length, width, and height are 4,550 mm, 1,893 mm, and 1,596 mm, respectively. They sit on 19-inch alloy wheels.
The price hike of the VinFast VF7 may significantly affect sales this month and upcoming ones too, because its rival, the closest rival, the Mahindra BE 6, is available with a starting price of ₹18.99 lakh. Compared to its base variant, it is ₹3.54 more affordable. In July 2026, a total of 318 units were sold out; on a month-on-month basis, sales decreased by 35%.
In 2026, between January and June, VinFast has sold a total of 2,633 units of the VinFast VF7, including 740, 676, 597, 326, and 294 for Wind Infinity, Wind, Sky Infinity, Earth, and Sky, respectively. Additionally, in the 318 sales of July, we got the number 2,951; this many deliveries have been made in the year 2026. The August 2026 sales figure will be out by mid-September 2026.
