Earlier, we reported that Mahindra Auto will debut a pickup in India for the domestic market on August 14, 2026. As the nameplate wasn’t disclosed, we referred to it as the ‘Scorpio N Pickup‘ because it resembled the SUV design. On the scheduled date, the automaker debuted it, but with the name ‘Scorpio Lifestyler,’ and even disclosed the starting price for the model, which is ₹19.79 lakh.
Many reports refer to the unveiling of Scorpio Lifestyler as a launch, which isn’t true. Mahindra has already confirmed that the market launch will take place in April 2027. They showcased this pickup in three editions, which are Valley in Artemis Grey, Reef in Aquareef, and Trail in Sahara Beige for lifestyle, adventure off-road, and practical workhorse, respectively.
Each edition of this pickup is set to be quite different from one another in terms of theme, exterior color, decals, and accessory packages, and they will be available for sale at different prices. In terms of dimensions, underpinning, and powertrain, they are expected to remain the same. In the Indian market, it is all set to give tough competition to the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
Notably, the newly unveiled vehicle by Mahindra Auto is the production model of the Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept that they showcased on August 15, 2023, in Cape Town, South Africa, and internally codenamed as Project Z121. This upcoming pickup is the direct successor of the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway. After the India launch, they will introduce the model to international customers.
The Scorpio Lifestyler is a double-cab pickup with four doors and five seats, two in front and three at the rear. Outside, it gets a large honeycomb-pattern grille with a twin-peak logo and L-shaped LED daylight running lights bracketing the main LED headlamps and vertically oriented fog lamps integrated into the bumper just below the headlights’ housing. At the center, just above the grille, “Scorpio” lettering is clearly visible to reflect the pickup branding.
Features rugged squared-off black wheel arch cladding, lower than cladding; pull-type door handles to enhance practicality; two running boards for easier ingress and egress of co-passenger, driver, and rear passenger; twelve-spoke alloy wheels; A-pillar-mounted ORVMs with slim horizontal LED indicators; and roof-integrated rails to mount luggage conventionally at the sides.
The rear has C-shaped LED taillamps at the tailgate, a large cargo bed with heavy load capacity, a top-mounted braking light, a bumper-integrated vertical-shaped reflector, Mahindra lettering in big and bold letters, and Lifestyler in small. Its dimensions are still pending. As it is quite similar to the concept in terms of design, its length may be 5.38 meters with a wheelbase of 3.11 meters.
During the unveiling event, they also showcased the interior. Its cabin gets a D-shaped four-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons and the Mahindra logo. Under the same, it has a slim digital instrument cluster showing all the driving-related information. At the center of the dashboard, it is equipped with a horizontally oriented touchscreen infotainment system.
Below the infotainment system, it has physical buttons with rotatory knobs. Other things that are clearly visible in its dashboard are air conditioning vents at the corners. They will unveil all interior features with the launch; it may have two-zone automatic climate control, dedicated AC vents in the second row, and connected car technology with over-the-air software updates.
The details regarding its powertrain are still pending. Many suggest it will get a 2.2-liter mHawk turbocharged diesel-powered internal combustion engine generating a maximum power of 175 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm. Two transmission options, six-speed manual and six-speed automatic, are expected, and both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive drivetrains are most likely.
