Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 to Make Its India Debut in September 2026

The Indian motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, is all set to launch the Himalayan 440, an adventure bike, in the first half of September 2026. This upcoming motorcycle is based on the updated Scram 440 and discontinued Himalayan 411. The brand’s Himalayan lineup is set to be positioned below the Himalayan 450.

There’s no update on its price from the manufacturer; it is set to cost less than the Himalayan 450. As the Himalayan 450 is available for sale with the ex-showroom price starting from ₹3.08 lakh, we are expecting that the upcoming Himalayan 440 will cost ex-showroom around ₹2.50 lakh.

After the launch in the Indian market, the Royal Enfield 440 will take on another adventure motorcycle; it will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X, the Yezdi Adventure, the KTM 250 Adventure, and the TVS Apache RTX 300.

This upcoming motorcycle will be powered by Royal Enfield’s LS440 443cc single-cylinder 4-stroke internal combustion engine featuring air/oil-cooled cooling and an electronic fuel injection system. The ICE is set to be mated with a six-speed manual transmission, whose power output and torque are 25.4 hp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

To accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h, it is expected to take under 4 seconds. The top speed of around 120 km/h is most likely. It’s tough to say anything about its real-world range, but the ARAI-certified one is highly anticipated to be better than its cousin, the Himalayan 450, which runs 29 km on one liter of petrol under the Automotive Research Association of India condition.

There’s no official confirmation regarding its dimensions. The length, width, and height are anticipated to be around 2.1 meters, 0.84 meters, and 1.36 meters, respectively. Its wheelbase may be 1.465 meters to ensure better stability at high speeds, and a ground clearance of around 0.22 meters will make it ideal to run on roads with potholes and speed breakers.

The fuel tank capacity and seat height are anticipated to be 15 liters, ensuring fewer refueling stops, and 0.80 meters, giving a comfortable seating position for individuals with the height of 5’7″ to 5’10”, respectively. The front and rear suspension are expected to be a telescopic fork and a monoshock, respectively, with around 200 mm of travel.

Set to feature spoke wheels on both ends, the front may measure 21 inches in diameter, and the rear likely has a 17-inch unit. Both wheels are set to be equipped with solid disc brakes for power braking and better heat absorption; the double-channel anti-locking braking system is also expected to be switchable to turn off the rear wheel for off-roading.

Upfront it will feature round-shaped LED headlights with integrated daylight running lights for a retro-modern appearance and a long, adjustable windscreen to reduce air blast on the chest and helmet. The rear will feature LED taillamps beneath the grab rail and fender-mounted LED blinkers to hint to the other road users about the next move.

Set to feature split seats with soft-touch upholstery to enhance the seating comfort for both rider and pillion. For the pillion’s leg support, it will have separate foldable footpegs near the exhaust. The exhaust pipes are set to position higher in the rear section to improve ground clearance.

Other features that this upcoming motorcycle may get include USB charging port for phone charging convenience during the long journey, and a Digital-analogue instrument cluster between the handlebars with Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts, the turn-by-turn navigation is unlikely for this model.
